Afrihost, Axxess ADSL network problems

There was an issue on Friday last week, not sure if that's what you're referring to?
Will keep an eye out for your PM.

I can say that AfriHost has been more stable this year (not this month), however I still remember the authentication issues in 2014 and 2013. If this happens during office hours, we have a lot of work to you to keep our clients going (including reconfiguring their Exchange). Some clients have moved on, so less pressure on us. I work in IT and if an issue is encounter, we do root cause analysis and ensure that these kind of issue will never happen again (if possible). My question is what is AfriHost going to do to avoid these issue in the future?

Argh, been spammed 3 times in the last hour with an SMS.

It seems to be going out to even the free 1GB guys....

We're moving to a new IPC infrastructure to tackle issues like this.

The telephone cables in my area were stolen last Wednesday so I went to my Afrihost mobile account and now that doesn't work as well....

Doesn't sound like you've got a whole lot of luck on your end :(
Really sorry about the downtime, we're working super hard on getting services restored as quickly as possible.

People complain when they aren't informed and complain when they are. You can't win.

I don't think it's about the notification, it's that they send an identical notification multiple times to the same number (presumably if you have multiple accounts with them). Send the notification, but just SELECT DISTINCT this please.

Well, I am not currently a paying customer. I think the SMS notification is great and wish my ISP would do it if something catastrophic happened. But getting the SMS every 20 min is somewhat annoying for someone not using the service.

On a side note, my work does use AH and I moved them over to Afrigreen on Friday. It's absolutely flying and I encourage anyone who hasn't made the switch yet to do so - it outperforms eMpTyN's backbone by miles.

We get it - they sent out an sms per account. Is it really such a big deal to call it spam?

Sorry about the spam - you can adjust communication settings per account via ClientZone though.
Glad you're happy with Afrigreen :)

Not using them, then cancel the free accounts. Problem solved.

I think it's something that is a defect and that they can simply fix without asking people to switch notifications off. If you've notified a particular number, don't send it to the same number again. Not rocket science, and easier for the company to change than to have the customers go and twiddle their settings individually.

Except the 1gig account...

As mentioned via PM, I can't migrate your 1GB free account.
Our system simply doesn't allow free accounts to be migrated - it will however be migrated once production goes live.
