Rebooting router didnt work, using my Afrihost 1GB free account didn't work.
Plugg account did work though. I just gave up and went to bed.
Anyway on my last edit
"Why cant we get some sort of notification of downtime, etc? Why is this stuff not planned? Its obvious there are issues and Network Management Systems need to be restarted, etc. But this CAN be communicated to Users. Its so easy to send an email with my invoice in without fail, but no indication of upgrades or KNOWN system downtime is never communicated.
Even Clash of Clans has the decency to tell me when downtime is going to occur. "
When we're doing the kind of work we are on the network, any downtime is pretty much unexpected and avoided at all costs. Although we understand the urgency and would love to take the network down completely to be able to work on it without unexpected results, our clients connectivity is still the highest priority and all work is planned in such a way to avoid disconnections or downtimes.
I don't know that any clients should have been disconnected for this length of time, and clients who were disconnected at all we only part of a small group, the majority of clients remained connected throughout, even when policy changes were pushed out, which is why some needed to reboot their routers to start experiencing better speeds.
