Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Guys, can someone having line issues please PM me? I'd like to see if I can do something to help. Your line needs to be managed by Telkom, and you need to have an open fault ( CRK/CRZ/etc ) number for > 4 days.

Also, you can't be in a complex - Can't fix wiring issues inside private property that would require digging up pavement.

Also, you need to be able to keep whatever I do to help out a secret...

EDIT: Can only help one person out this way for now. If it works, and if I have the free time, I might make this a weekly thing.

Well, I am on business uncapped 10Mbps and 3 of us started downloading the PS4 Destiny patch yesterday at about the same time (7:20pm last night). My download finished at 10pm (short of 3 hours). A guy on MWeb had his download done by 8:30pm and another guy on Openweb at 9pm - all are on uncapped accounts (but not business SLA's).

TBH, a number of fibre operators are busy trenching in my area, and hopefully I am going to be off ADSL and AH in the next 3-4 months. Can't get any progress and another guy in the office has similar issues and was told last night "it's because of load-shedding" :whistle:

Telkom has said it is a fault at the exchange that causes congestion at peak times - but it is not only happening at peak times anymore. Pretty much all the time except between maybe midnight and 6 am. Not sure what fault. So I take it you can investigate to assist?

Is your ADSL modem powered on at the moment? I've just checked on your line, but I'm not getting any readings.

I can personally guarantee that it will not last though.

Even on the second hop, that one hop at 41ms is worrisome.

Things look okayish on the Exchange at the moment, when things start going to pot, can you run the same tests again, we've got a decent benchmark, not we just need to see where things exactly breakdown.
 
I can send you some from previous tests done when it has gone south?

Hi. Unfortunately can't tell right now - f***ing load shedding until 22:00.
Thanks though. AfriGenie is looking into things and hopefully will have some feedback for me soon.
