Is your experience poor across both?

Yup. I know there is congestion at the exchange - according to Telkom. But this is getting ridiculous now. Can't even run a bloody speedtest - on both accounts.
And getting worse as time goes by.

:(
Does it worsen during the evenings? I'd imagine it sees higher latency from now the more people get home. There isn't much latency introduced on the exchange though.

It is pretty much bad all the time now - any time of the day.
Also getting disconnects every so often.
It is getting worse every single day.
Last night, from about 19:30 until this morning, then got home to the slow, crappy internet.

And now load shedding for me until 10:00 tonight.
So yay, slow internet, no electricity, what the f*** next?!

Sorry for the rant.

Please take the potato back, I'm trying to cut back on carbs. Do you have any beer? ;)
If your line is getting choppy, drop me a PM. Let's see what we can work out here.

What on earth happened at 19:49? Packet loss for days! I haven't noticed and deterioration when I'm browsing though.....

A true joke - Destiny update at 6GB with a 10Mbps uncapped line and it is sitting at 3 hours. (According to my calculation, on a line which should give me about 800KB/sec, this should not take more than 80-100 minutes).

FWIW - I took a screenshot when I started (about 5 minutes ago), wrote this post, did a speedtest while I had the download paused, resumed it after the speedtest and now looking over at the TV, I am on 150MB - this is going to be a long night.

2 1/2 hours later and 5GB downloaded - absolute joke Afrihost!

Lol be happy, mine is sitting at 8 hours left and I am on 10mb uncapped with them.

Apparently being shaped cos the IPC is under heavy load. So if the IPC is always under heavy load then always shaped.

May I ask who told you that you were being shaped?

AfriRunAround will be quick to tell you they don't shape and that you need to send a trace route so they can look into it. They also haven't heard of anyone else having an issue.

Seeing that you're getting the same high latency in both traces, I would say the latency is coming from your line or exchange. We'd need to test further to confirm, but there is definitely something odd happening there.

Lol be happy, mine is sitting at 8 hours left and I am on 10mb uncapped with them.

Apparently being shaped cos the IPC is under heavy load. So if the IPC is always under heavy load then always shaped.

We definitely don't shape Business accounts, but if you're on an Uncapped account then your downloads would be shaped - based on demand on the network at any given time.

AfriRunAround will be quick to tell you they don't shape and that you need to send a trace route so they can look into it. They also haven't heard of anyone else having an issue.

If you read his post you'd see he's on an Uncapped account which is shaped. I think the forums will benefit more if you post from your own personal experience, and myself and the other reps will be happy to comment and give you whatever insight we can. We don't want to confuse other forum users and provide incorrect information :(

Morning all

We did see a rise in latency between 9pm and about 10:30 but this was not consistent and far less pronounced than we've seen in the past week or so. So some of the changes do seem to be taking effect. I also seem to be seeing reports of clients seeing some similar issues on other ISPs, so I don't know if these are related to what we're seeing or not. We definitely seem to be to seeing a rise in queries around loadshedding periods.

For the moment, we feel like we are making progress on this. Throughput, due to contention, may still not be full during these peak times but if we can control latency, this will at least ensure good realtime performance for gamers, etc. We'll continue to work towards eliminating unwanted P2P traffic on shaped accounts (Uncapped) until we can also improve overall performance.

I posted tickets and PM'd when I logged my issues. And nothing got done, just got asked for more trace routes.

So yes, I am talking from personal experience.
