Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

I would hang back until afrihost has sorted out the issues, and the general feeling in the forum has turned from bad to good. At the moment, I'm buffering youtube video on a 20meg VDSL line.

So will be signing up for Uncapped business soon 4meg. Hopefully its as good as I hear.

One would think so, but that is NOT the case... there have been latency and routing issues on and off for almost a year - not to mention 3 major capacity issues in the same time period :(

I don't think they've been around for a year, but longer than what we'd like :(
Improvements are on the way though.

I was being kind... it's been longer, no matter what you would like to believe, or what type of spin is applied - take a look at this thread alone and you will see the evidence.

As for "improvements are on the way", that has been AH's motto for ages.

The problem is, by the time the fixes are in place for the current issues, other problems (such as capacity/IPC) will hit the end user - to the end user, no matter what the actual faults are, the experience is ALWAYS the same. That is, slow performance, periods of no throughput, authentication issues, etc. All these lead to the same conclusion: a product that under-performs 60% of the time, yet is billed at the same rate, and requires a hell of a lot of client testing and time away from his/her business.

Let's call a spade, a spade, shall we? Just saying...

I'll agree that things haven't been smooth sailing, but again - I need to stress that it hasn't been a year (or years) of absolute misery.

I have been with Afrihost for 3 months now. Started off very happy with my uncapped business line. After getting off the phone with the call centre. Apparently it's acknowledged that the fault is on their side and they are having bandwidth issues with Mtn and are looking for a better solution!!!!

I was trying to watch a documentary on popcorn and it was completely blocked as wouldn't even load. So I thought let me try crystal web trail. Streams perfectly.

Afrihost is obviously restricting bandwidth and blocking certain activity. I'm sorry but this is unacceptable and I'm currently looking for an alternative.

I can assure you that no restrictions are in place with our Business accounts, however the experience may not be the best :(
We have acknowledged here and on our noticeboard and have planned improvements in place.

Our network team and management are aware that some of our clients have been experiencing poor internet performance over our ADSL services. Due to high demand for bandwidth on our network, affected clients may be experiencing slow speeds and high latency, particularly during periods when demand is very high. We sincerely apologise for the poor experience, and we’d like to assure our clients that their feedback and concerns are very important to us, and every possible resource at our disposal is being employed to improve overall network performance.

We are currently in the process of designing and deploying comprehensive network upgrades nationally.
Unfortunately we’re unable give a timeframe for these upgrades to be completed, but we commit to providing our clients with as much information as possible as it becomes available.

Once again we would like to sincerely apologise to affected clients for the poor experience they have had, and assure them that we will continue to dedicate ourselves to providing the best possible internet experience.

Unfortunately I don't think that's going to keep your clients happy for very long. Why should we pay full price when we not receiving a full service.

I'm not trying to be difficult here as I'm in business myself. However giving no eta on when your network is going to be operating properly is not acceptable. I think you guys will be dropping allot of customers shortly, so some bandwidth should free up.

P.s I'm currently on my contract phone data writing this as it's faster than my adsl.

I can fully understand where you're coming from, and the decisions that go with it.
While there are issues, the accounts shouldn't be at a point of being completely unusable. Have you been able to run any tests with our Support team?

Yep trace routes have been done and it's been confirmed the issue is with yourselves. Hence why the call centre lady Anita applogised and said you are having bandwidth issues

Could I check out the ticket? I'll need the ref# please :)

What are we going to do today, Brain?
The same thing we do every day, Pinkie - try to fix the network.
