Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

The one client I have (sent you their details some time ago on the same matter) have been down from Monday. I know they are using a new ISP from yesterday morning. They are also moving their hosting to a new company due to the problems we all have been complaining about for the past few months.

And best of all is that every time AH tries to shift the blame to either Eskom (for Loadshedding) or to Telkom for line problems.

Now the company had a 3G failover system and the laughable matter is that even the 3G connection (also a Afrihost product) never EVER worked. So now I have a client that can't trust my word (as I told them to get the 3G sim from AH and also got them to drop @lantic for AH)

So now I am in the middle, being blamed that I told them to move from @lantic (where they at least had a stable and working connection) to AH with the kakest service (at the moment and for the past year) this side of the Limpopo River.

I'm not aware of any downtime issues, neither on Hosting or DSL services. Or Mobile for that matter.
I'll gladly look into what's going wrong here.

You mean "that we HOPE a POC implementation will fix".
That's what proof-of-concept means. We want to see if it works. It's basically like alpha testing.

That's not the intention here.
We're working on expanding the network, so once implemented everyone should see an improved experience.

Then stop calling it a proof-of-concept.
"A proof of concept (POC) or a proof of principle is a realization of a certain method or idea to demonstrate its feasibility,[1] or a demonstration in principle, whose purpose is to verify that some concept or theory has the potential of being used. A proof of concept is usually small and may or may not be complete."

That sucks. Latency should have been good though. Our reports are showing that the South is looking good on that aspect, even if throughput is not as good as it could be.

Could you not connect at all? Are there any results you can show me that I can pass onto the network people?

You've got the traceroute from last night here is what the latency is doing now.

you can see how it gets massive spikes as soon as I do things like opening chests / change worlds / load chunks.

Looks OK now, I think this matches with what was listed on our reporting last night when demand increased in the evening.

Thing is I'm still getting ingame latency spikes, the opis caps are from now. I know it isn't my server that's faulty as other players don't have this problem.

Even now? :(
Do you just see this latency in game or across the board?

Do you guys really trust those reports? I mean, every day and weekend you post that the reports showed nothing. Even after the IPC issue was confirmed, these reports still show nothing is wrong yet the forums are showing different everyday?

Throughput is measured for the entire region, latency is tracked on a more granular level - while it's showing as OK for now, we do spikes, particularly when demand increases.

That's not the intention here.
We're working on expanding the network, so once implemented everyone should see an improved experience.

Either you worded this wrong or it's the slip of the tongue....
I don't want to see an improved service, I want to see full functionality/full service....
Improved service could mean that if I was getting 6Mbps on my 10Mbps line on the current situation of the network, then once the POC rolls out, I could get 7Mbps where as previously I was getting 10Mbps #NotOn

I think you know that's what I meant :)

Just as a matter of interest - where is Gian these days? There hasn't been any activity from him on the thread he created for quite some time now.

Gian's a pretty busy man, I'm sure he'll reply to his thread when he can.

Well this busy man should take some time and effort to rectify the issues at hand... I for one am not happy that I'm paying a 4Mbps business line and account only to get 1Mbps speeds... Where's the email offering an refund? Where's the explanation and assurance that this will be resolved. AH is quick to take on new customers and take their money but when you cannot offer the said services there's no email or communication when a resolution will be in place

A lot of work is being done behind the scenes, including a stack of work from all of the Directors.

Get the CTO in here to give us some insight.

We're confirming details here as they happen.
I think it's quite obvious that it's not Gian's role to be on here day after day replying to questions. He'll update his thread when he can - in the mean time we'll continue to keep you guys updated.

Yep just tried GTA V as an alternate, had to quit as basically other players were stopping and appearing miles away. This is the exact same thing I get when the latency is high.

Yes according to the traceroutes latency is fine but ingame experience speaks differently. Is it possible your changes have deprioritized the different gaming signatures?

I had this problem with mc before then you guys made changes and it improved, now the problems are back again :(

Just tried sab and:

Yet speedtest:

SAB has now dropped to 50k

Better and better

Just tested some usenet downloads and they seem OK, same with browsing. Latency popped up a little a few mins ago but does seem to have normalised.
