Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

I have 1200kg loaded onto the back of my bakkie. If I get two more bakkies, and take 600kg off my first bakkie, and put 300kg each on the two new bakkies, there is no need to buy a truck to replace the first bakkie.

If Afrihost takes some of the load off the MTN network, there is no need to increase the capacity of the MTN network.

That's how I get it anyway, with the new POCs.

I think that's pretty much the gist of it. Essentially adding two network is increasing capacity just as much as adding more IPC.

Great example there :)

Still getting silly latency in minecraft

NNTP is also shockingly bad

If that's an acceptable example, then does this mean that you're considering the same business model as Openweb used to have? When one subscribed to a Gold account years back, you were able to choose which backbone you wanted to be provisioned on. IIRC, Vodacom Business, IS, and SAIX were the popular options.

No, not at all. That is just an interim situation. Eventually we'll all be on one network and we plan to keep our offering very similar in the short term, in terms of products. We don't really like having multiple product tiers (premium, gold, etc), we always try to keep it as simple as possible.

I know we are still seeing some complaints of latency here and there. I'm hoping that we're very close to cutting people over to the new network, so we should see results pretty quickly if that's the case.

That would be a good idea though. Openweb's reputation became as good as it was before their issues because of access to the Vodacom backbone, which was amazing. With the substantially larger amounts of manpower and engineers on your end, you could do it way better.

I'm not sure what their model is. To be honest, I have test accounts from different ISPs to compare, but I don't really get to know them much. I know some of the reps through MyBB, but I don't think Mr Beep exists anymore :(

How can the problem now be resolved (green light) if users have not been ported over and no new IPC is in place?

Whats really weird is local speedtest is showing great speeds, international not so much so but NNTP is completely dead, this is really the first time its been this bad.

(As an aside Minecraft is still useless :( )

The problem isn't solved.
Not entirely sure what's happened to the notice, I'll have our team check it out.

I think this is specific to a throughput problem on certain protocols :(
We're making good progress on the POCs, so hopefully we'll start seeing clients cut over soon.

Wow, I can't believe the state this network is in.....
We better be given something as reimbursement, and no free data, that doesn't mean anything to uncapped users....
I may just cancel and sign up with another ISP, it makes no sense to be paying for two ISP's, may as well just stick with the one that actually works....
