I'm not sure if you're referring to an Uncapped account here, becuase when is shaping lifted? Business accounts are not shaped, so I'm guessing you're talking about an Uncapped account and using Turbocharge.

Nope 10MB Business Account Uncapped

Any way to try to spin this, the actions of Afrihost are unethical. But then again, you are just doing what every other ISP in your position would do. So meh.

I think if you've made up your mind that this is what you choose to believe, I don't know if you want to engage on this or convince me that I work for an unethical company. Maybe we just need to agree to disagree :(

I doubt that will happen, but I think if we don't get the upgrades within the next week or so, we'll definitely have to consider a more public message on our website or via SMS.

The truly transparent thing would've been to send all your clients an email stating that there are issues, that new capacity have been ordered and an estimated ETA of when issues could be resolved.

Yes. I have looked at this totally objectively, and you sir are working for an unethical company.

And in case, you don't know the formula
charging x for a service and providing x/10 in perpetuity and expecting x to be paid = unethical. No matter which way to try to spin it. On top of that, I am sure you are not turning away new customers despite the fact that new customers will make the service even worse.

Only reason you are surviving is the reason why 99% of businesses with poor services survive. Complacency/willingness of your customers to suck it up and not leave as everybody else is just as crap if not worse.

Fine the optimzation that is lifted, then I am able to connect....

Optimisation relates to network efficiency, so there is nothing that is lifted or removed after hours. For Business accounts, the only thing changes will be contention for bandwidth according to demand.

Again, this is your opinion and not a matter of fact. The fact is that we've had technical difficulties in the past and the way that we've conducted ourselves and made it up to our clients has built a strong relationship of trust that helps us get through many challenges we face together. I think chalking that down to complacency or apathy is really a disservice to many of our clients who believe that a service relationship is more than a transient transaction but based on trust and shared values and that is what they find with us.

You are totally entitled to your opinion and choice, but I think it's only fair by converse to respect the opinion and choice of others to feel differently to the way you do.

We do assess the impact based on the queries and complaints our management team make that decision. If they feel that this is necessary in view of our entire DSL client base, then I'm sure they will do so.

I remember the Afrihost reps, mentioning when we had the previous IPC capacity issues that this would be made up to clients. The thing is nothing has happened, and here we have the same issue again, and the same promises. Existing users seem to get very little and lately less than what we pay for.

Well then the optimization of your network is negatively impacting online gaming....I have witnessed this first hand, deny it if you want to but it does not change the fact that others and myself have witnessed the same thing....

As I've said, overall contention could affect gaming, it depends on whether there is higher latency or throughput is badly affected. If it were a "shaping setting" as you suggest, it would not improve unless we were manually switching a ruleset on and off, which we're not.

I don't have confirmation just yet, but we'll know closer to when the IPC's go live.

Surely you guys know by now AfriMan? When an order is placed for more IPC capacity you would clearly state where it is required, not so? Makes me wonder whether there is an order at all! Why are all your answers on the actual issue so vague? Your most common answer to date on the capacity issue is 'I don't have confirmation'... that points to a lack of planning or a lack of internal communication.

So if a client decides to pay 1/10th of their invoice this month, based on trust and shared values, that would be fine?

I can't confirm information until I am given the go ahead by management. Some aspects may be under negotiation, or unconfirmed. I think creating expectations or giving you my personal speculation is going to do more harm than good. So I can't confirm information that is not confirmed to me. The information I have is that IPC is imminent, but I don't have further details around when and where that will happen. Once I am able to share that, I will.

We're generally very understanding when clients approach us in earnest with problems with their accounts and we usually give the client the benefit of the doubt. I've helped several clients with issues like this here on the forums, so I think it's fair to say we return client's trust and good faith wherever we can.
