Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Every other ISP i have tried was perfect... maxing out my 10 MB

Thanks. I'm happy that Afrihost are now at least updating network status to reflect issues but is this really medium impact? I can't even access sites I host with Afrihost properly at the moment.

Just the other day it was low impact...

Hi guys

We're starting to look better in the North, we're still working hard to see similar improvements in the South though. Our team are working tirelessly to have this sorted out, I know a lot of you aren't seeing the best results :(

More feedback should be available in the morning.

Well, Well, Well...I am assuming that you guys are talking about the North and South poles right? Cause I am looking worst than I was 3 hours ago.

20Mbps Business Account (12-11-2014 21-03pm).JPG

By the way, whilst you guys are working on Santas (North Poles) Internet, can you please get Santa Afrihost to get me some nice pressies for this inconvenience?

I am sure that I will be considered as good this year, after all, I had to put up with this, and on top of that I am still here with AH as my ISP and in "Johannesburg North" area, not the North Pole Afripeeps. :)

Hope you have a sleepless night fixing Santas Internet. :) I know, bit mean, but I have to make myself smile somehow. Right? :)

Have a cup of coffee on me!!!

LOL!

It has entered the realm of sadness. But it is only difficult for those who remember, with nostalgia, the good old days. The shaped don't speak. What remains now is pity, a sad shake of the head, the lighting of a candle and then the final stage: Accepting the tragic loss and moving on.

And than with sadness in his eyes, he said "Good Night Mr. Tom", as he shut down his PC, switched off his router in an attempt to at least save some electricity.

Steam appears to time out during problems such as the one many of our clients are experiencing, restarting the Steam Client has often gotten it connected and working again on my end.

Okay, now I'm being affected by this whole mess and I have to day, I'm not happy at all with the way things have gone tonight. 1Mb/s to PSN I can tolerate because of Sony's shenanigans, but tonight I had 97% PACKET LOSS to the IS Gaming mumble server during setting up the NAG Online Podcast. Switching to forced TCP mode solved the problem because UDP packets were being dropped quicker than Putin's semen in squirty-tubes to single women in Russia.

I've had slowdowns and pages not completing all day. Editing the System Builder's Guide today took twice as long because of poor throughput. I've not been able to log into Steam for the whole day. I had intermittent access issues to Google Drive for, guess how much? The whole friggin' day. After the 25TH ATTEMPT to enter into my password to log into Steam, I've had enough of the internet for one day.

I've tolerated things for long enough but if this is still the kind of performance I'm experiencing a week for now, I'm going to have to find a new service provider. I don't especially want to leave Afrihost because this account is great when it works, but I'm having deja vu now, having dealt with precisely the same kind of issues, PR-speak and delaying of handing out concrete dates whereby things should be fixed that I did with Telkom last year.

I'm not ignorant to the realities of running an ISP as large as Afrihost and prior to the iOS update D-Day i was happy as a pig in mud, but having seen these kinds of problems (admittedly to a lesser degree) every now and then over the last two and a half months, I'm not impressed with the turnaround time.

2.4Mbps atm. It just keeps getting slower. Youtube can barely manage 480p.

2.4Mbs.......I wish......I am sitting on 68KB/s, yes, you read correctly, 68KB/s on a 10Meg bus account at 10.02pm in the evening!!!!!!
WTF is going on Afrihost.???????? - carrier pigeons would be a faster method of transfering data.
I thought we had progressed beyond 56K modem speed, but it appears that I am wrong.

Guys, your super dupper experts are worth squat if this is what the result is when they tweak your network.

I think it is time for more drastic measures - remember they guy a year or so ago that had been battling to get an ID document for 2 years from the Department of Home Affairs, and in desperation he had to resort to holding them up with a gun?

Maybe some of us should pitch up at Afrihosts offices in Rivonia and refuse to let anybody go home till we get what we are paying for.

Afrihost, you have pushed your client's buttons to a point where, I for one, am now going to be totally unreasonable when dealing with you.
I will be arriving at your offices tomorrow and all hell is going to break loose until my account starts working consistently the way it should.

And no, I am not prepared to run any more test for you; you have at least a dozen tracerts from me.

Am I reading this properly? This traceroute goes from the local network, to a server in the UK and then back down to Joburg?

AfriREPS

Please can we get someone who's actually doing the changes to the network to respond, AfriGenie from your earlier replies it seems you're on the team?

Failing this I think a trip to Rivonia is in order....

Ja, AFAIK its cheaper to send the data internationally rather than locally, I think Cell C also do this

Segg, I will be visiting the Afrihost offices in Rivonia tomorrow; sounds like you are of the same opinion as the only way to get our accounts working - see my post #3352 above. Any similar support from others whose accounts have not been working as they should be would be of great benefit in sending Afrihost the message that we are the customers, we pay their salaries, we pay for a service that we have not been getting for about 3 months now, and that enough is enough. So, any takers?

... Makes zero sense to me. ****-all sense, actually. How the hell can anyone think this is a good idea?

Well, we can thank Telkom for this, it could also be that ( I'm not 100% sure on this so don't shoot me ) MTN don't have any peering points with other providers in SA
