This is the answer of the ticket

Hi Thorsten,

Thank you for your e-mail :)

Kindly note that the slow access issue on our end has been restored. I ran a session auditor on the data account to clear all errors, please restart your modem and advise if the latency issue is sorted.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Thanks

I would need to check your ticket first, but were there any lines faults the Support Guy could have been referring to?

EDIT: Can you please send the Ticket ID to me via PM.

We're making changes to the software that we use, specifically to make sure that the recurring latency issues do not recur, we've recently noticed that our bandwidth is not being utilized as effectively as it could be, especially with regard to P2P and HTTP downloads not being shaped effectively enough on Uncapped accounts.

so you you telling me that you are running on the edge of your bandwidth and that one extra download can bring the house down
not very good planning is it
and then nobody sees anything wrong til monday
even with your support staff monitoring
come on this is a bit much to swallow

It definitely was not just ONE extra download, P2P traffic was accounting for significant traffic on the Uncapped accounts when they should have been shaped, our system has handling the network traffic with the assumption that a certain amount bandwidth could be made available from shaping Uncapped accounts, and when this wasn't I'm pretty convinced it was resulting in the latency and packet loss spikes that of the guys here experienced.

Ok Afrihost so please tell me what the problem is this time around? Online gaming, especially BF4 does not work anymore and on the odd chance that one does manage to log into a server whereby the game starts there is so much rubber banding and lag it's pointless even trying. What is the problem and when will this be sorted? All other ISP's have no issues yet Afrihost is simply broken once again. I am on a 4mb business package with business optimization deactivated.

Just a simple answer will do.

Ok so after all of this I went the wireless route. They were at my house earlier today and installed for me.

Keeping my Telkom line and ADSL but will be keeping an eye on this...

There should definitely not be any issues with Battlefield 4 at the moment, which platform are you playing BF4 on? Have you been able to test today?

:wtf:

This is part of the issue that we have at the moment with some of the Support Guys, some of them only half-listen when they get updates and then over-react widely.

Well let me flip that coin. I dealt with a guy called Xander ..... Dunno who this kid is, but really a helpful knowledgeable guy.

In the midst of the flack you are taking, let me give you a compliment.

We've got some great guys in Support, and we're making sure that everyone that you will interact with will be as great.

Hi AfriGenie.

Any chance you looked at the PM I sent you?

Apologies! Seems that I typed out a reply, saved it, but never actually sent it. :(

Honestly, that latency spikes that you experience when someone is streaming from Youtube on your network could be caused by a number of factors. How many devices are connecting to the modem? Are these devices using WiFi or LAN? Are you seeing something similar happen with other services?

Last night i spoke to Afrihost support there promised to escalate my Ticket
Tonight i spoke again nothing was escalate the Night before
The Afrihost Support is a disgrace for Business ADSL this include the Afrihost on mybroadband
there ask for personnel Massages and nothing happen

@AfriGenie

It happens on all devices but it seems worse on LAN connected devices. As for number of devices we looking at 2 LAN connected and about 3 WiFi ones. I personally suspect YouTube has been given highest priority from your guys end if this is even possible. A friend suggested it was shaping of some sort but the issue has persisted since I upgraded to business.

i dont think support can help
if there is not enough capacity there is not enough period
we can see this when we look at the problems we are having and the people complaining
we take from here and give to there
lets squeeze the last drops out
lets not talk about trying to play a game

I know that feeling. Needed github for windows. 5pm-7pm was me sitting and retrying every time the download failed
