That's definitely not great. Latency leaving our network is pretty much high than we'd like to see the end latency. But I see your 3rd hop is showing latency as high as 101ms, so that could be part of the issue as well, it's hard to say. Do you get the same latency when you test on another network.

Unfortunately I don't have any other network.

Looks like there's a big difference between web africa tests and afrihost tests.

when you look at all the posts month after month you can see it is the same complaints over and over again
what stands out most is that ah does not have enough capacity so everybody can work comfortably as their contention ratio is up to crap
so instead of enough bandwidth for everyone they are juggling it between all the people with their management software
that is why when their is extra people on line their system cant handle the punch and they have to juggle the b/w again thus giving us the up and down speed problems
can you please also explain why you latency is so high that it is impossible to play games
and please don't ask for trace roots ,pings and speedtests as we are past that stage as we know the problem is with you

I don't think that's true at all. After the last few years when we've hit those IPC capacity issues, IPC is something we are constantly thinking about - like our own personal boogeyman. We're constantly asking the question. So an analogy here would be looking at a highway and saying should we keep widening the road, or paint lane markers to optimise traffic? The real answer is both. IPC is not an overnight solution and if traffic is not properly managed, it will be a never-ending and expensive exercise. It's important that we constantly review our rules and policies and keep them managing traffic at an optimal level, and this will also give us the data to project when we will need more capacity and place those orders well ahead of time so our clients have a great experience at all times (or as close to that as we can possibly get).

Continuing the anology - if the lane markers are not placed in the correct places, bad things happen. The fact that so many people are having issues is evidence of something not being right somewhere.

Agreed, and that is very much where we're focussing our energy for now to make sure that we use our capacity effectively, and ongoing capacity planning is also always top of mind.

As we've said, right now we're making our traffic rules and policies as efficient as possible. We're seeing that services that should be shaped (on Uncapped, not capped or business) and this is leading to demand and needs to be controlled. When we get these policies right we expect to see much better performance.

Why would that change though? Surely when a policy is in place it stays working?
 
Afrihost your network is completely useless. Playing Destiny on PS4 and every minute a disconnect. Switching to Telkom and no issue. What a mess.

How afrihost still have customers is beyond me, the move to MTN was the biggest fail and blunder in their history. They then went and infected Axxess with their bad business decisions. Thankfully we have WA,CW and Vox.
 
AH, whatever you are doing to your management policy is not working.
 
Afrihost, why is international gaming so bad? Tried to play Guild Wars 2, 290ms- 350ms ping. Switched to Web Africa trail account and I was getting 190ms-220ms on the same line. I have a 10MB business uncapped line.
