Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

What is taking so long to fix, surely Windows Update uses a specific protocol etc and you just unblock it, really this is not acceptable. Your network configuration people really need to get advise from other ISP's as your network is continually having issues, every few months there is something only Afrihost suffers from.

I don't think it's a case of being blocked/ unblocked. Something happened with them where they aren't performing well on our network. From the testing we've run, it does seem intermittent - we have a team looking at this daily.

Well if its taking this long to sort out what should be relatively simple, then you need different people to try and resolve this issue. I reported this issue more than 2 months ago, and there has been zero improvement. In a way its good to see others with the same issue as it rules out an issue on my side, an issue with the exchange etc the normal excuses Afrihost makes.

From what I understand it's been escalated too - it's not on the back burner, it's being actively looked at.

From a client perspective, it looks like nothing has been done, as the issue is still, not fixed.

I can get that.
Honestly though, I'm not sure the technical details behind what's being done, but I know it's being worked out. We'll get this fixed.

looks more like ah is blocked off at microsoft or they are blocking traffic to microsoft cause their !!! cant handle the traffic
either way we are paying for a basic service we are not getting
shame on you

As I mentioned in this thread earlier, nothing is blocked.
I need you to PM me your DSL username so I can get a specialist in touch. You keep mentioning issues on the forum but don't allow me a chance to look at your account properly.

Please PM me dude.

you have looked at our account more than once and then the answer was there is nothing wrong and your line is with telkom so dont throw stones as we have bigger ones
just sort out your network so it can work normal as there is more than enough tests and complains about the same things
ps i am not your dude

I think the intention was not to be disrespectful here, apologise if you felt it was said poorly.

Ultimately we have answered many of the general questions regarding the state of the network several times over, and I don't think we have any new information to provide except to confirm where we have also seen increases in demand and latency in general. We're definitely not blocking Microsoft services, that would make no sense whichever way you cut it.

I believe that we've asked for your details to test with you several times. I totally understand that you may not want to participate, but then posting your own theories and not expecting us challenge false conclusions is a little unfair. As always, you are welcome to PM anyone of the team here and we will be more than happy to work with you to troubleshoot.

Http is fine my side. I've been downloading a number of 4GB setup files from GOG today and the speed has been as fast as possible the whole day.

Ok so like yesterday, all of a sudden my Minecraft session died for about 3 min, had a HTTP download going too from https://download3.vmware.com/software/wkst/file/VMware-workstation-full-11.1.0-2496824.exe also stalled at 0.

My PPPoE is stable and hasn't reset. So not sure what's going on.

It's downloading pretty well for me on this side. This would be a capped account, so similar to Business in terms data provisioning.

Yeah don't get me wrong the speed is fine it just seems to die completely on all non port 80 traffic for several minutes at a time a couple of times a day.

That's definitely weird. How many devices are running on the network? Are you going WiFi or LAN cable?

I have a number of devices but only my PC connected via lan at the times when it looses connectivity, please bear in mind that normal browsing can still take place during such an event.

That's definitely weird. I'll need to test this out if I can. Can you give me more links so I can test off my capped account. Let me check if I see any kind of timeout.

Strange, would you mind running a traceroute to Youtube.com please, I want to make sure the routing is causing issues again.

Thanks!

That is definitely resolving to the correct server, but I'm seeing the same issue on my side now, and I'm connected directly via the Data Center to the Cache Server.

We're checking on it now as well.
