Downloading the torrent file seems to work for me. I don't think it's blocked or anything like that. Might just be your torrent client playing up. It took a little while to get paired with a seeder (about 2-3 minutes) but I didn't think that was particularly unusual.

Iw3U3Am.png

I actually get paired much faster than that - once the torrent has downloaded it is very very fast, no issues with p2p albeit ping issues at the usual times.

It seems to be working fine again however, last night all was well again. This morning I had issues and it works now again. Quite strange.

That is very strange!

Please keep an eye on it, and let me know if it becomes problematic.

speed, latency and packet loss are down the crapper again

Came here to say this ... been having allot of issues for a few weeks now. Is something being done ?

Region: Morningside, Sandton

I'm also getting packet loss from Monument Park in Pretoria. Also with Afrihost. So I don't think its my line.

Google services really aren't up to snuff tonight, google earth is buffering like mad. Really getting tired of the, you need to use AfriDNS, wait try google since ours is having a wobbly, wait no you can't expect decent speeds using googles one.

this has been one of the worst weekends as latency ,speeds and disconnects is down the crapper with Saturday being the worst
what a crap service

Afrihost....Please sort this latency issues out once and for all. The moment I mention bad latency on teamspeak whilst gaming the guys actually joke and say he is probably with Afrihost. This is literally how bad it is at the moment. I am not wanting to jump ship but I am starting to get rather irritated with the latency issues. Just please sort it out and please don't tune me we need to test this or that. The problem IS with Afrihost. Just sort it out.

If your latency is permanently that high, then we need to start look for issues specific to your area, to your line, or to your Exchange even.

Do you have test account with a different ISP?

So my "isolated" problem seems to be spreading. Please tell me again this a Telkom problem? So sick and tired of Afrihosts lies and promises.

Just got my Telkom line installed again last week, and am waiting for it to be activated. I have already purchased an Afrihost account. How long does it normally take Telkom to activate the line, and how long does one normally have to wait? What is the normal procedure?

We should be seeing good latency and general performance in the North at the moment, though I get the point here that same issues on separate lines are unlikely to be line related.

I'd have to see some test results to comment further. My own tests in the North showed pretty normal performance over the weekend.

I can totally understand your feelings here, your results definitely seem to indicate a pretty horrible internet experience. Aside from occasional DNS wobblies we've have in the last couple of weeks, we're definitely working hard on improving overall performance in the South, which seems to see problems during high demand. We're working really hard to bring demand down by shaping Uncapped P2P as hard as we can. We have improved the accuracy of our shaping by a huge margin and we hope to see continuous improvement as we try to improve overall performance. We've seen latency spikes improve overall, though there are some evenings when we do see an overall rise in latency and we're doing our absolute best to reduce the effect on our clients experience in the region.

We've run quite a few tests with TS running and various major gaming titles like CS GO, LoL and other titles, to see if there is any effect on either the game or TS. Even with a 2Mbps Uncapped, shaped to max, the games work well. In terms of Business, there should be no shaping in effect so even a 2Mbps Business account should be sufficient for gaming, under the same conditions.

We'll need to see what the local conditions could be that might affect your experience. Do you experience this at all times or only at certain times? Which area are you in?

So my "isolated" problem seems to be spreading. Please tell me again this a Telkom problem? So sick and tired of Afrihosts lies and promises.

I'm not sure if you're referring to the issue of switching BRAS IP's which has been affecting your latency? If that's the case, I have still not seen another case of this :(

It can take up to 30 days for a brand new DSL activation, but Telkom are getting better at doing this in just over a week on average. There is no way to tell if it will be one end of the spectrum or the other, it totally depends on the local Telkom resources and people working in that area.

Come on Afrihost, 4pm is not really peak is it?
