Here is the same trace done from Web Africa Account:

And Yes that second hop that times out is normal....

How can you call it a business grade product with these terrible results and its not a once of thing, been happening to much lately.

I'm getting the same results as above. Not impressed. Not going to be able to stream the E3 conferences now. Youtube is just about broken.

You guys might want to edit your profile and add in your location. In a thread about internet issues, it helps to easily be able to tell which region a user is in.

Ok, so after returning home from the long weekend. Wife and I sit down, and try to watch jimmy fallon.

JEESH, internet sloooowww again tonight. Tried to download ubuntu image, comes down at full line speed (20 meg./s)! But latency is so bad its a crime. I'm SOOO tired of afrihost, and all the excuses.

So I present to you all, the speedtest of my 20 meg VDSL line.

afrihost.png

Cant wait for the excuses tomorrow.

Ping test, traceroute, DNS, (mine is correct btw) All stuff to throw you off the trail. Afrihost, you guys have a problem, and losing credibility.

And 4Mbit/s (when I am lucky) on a 10Mbit/s buss account. Come on, Afrihost, this is starting to get annoying now.
And no, its not Telkom or my PC, its an Afrihost problem.
I tell you what, Afrihost, you and I are heading for the following of scenarios:
1. Put up a wall banner in a prominent place deriding Afrihost and their terrible problems.
2. Organise a protest with dozens of people waving placards deriding your problems with your business account - these to be strategically positioned on Rivonia road outside your headoffice, during peak hours.

Guys, do we really have to go the above route, or are we going to get what we pay for?
I am now down to 2.8Mbit/s speed on a 10Mbit/s buss account.

And Usenet totally useless. Cannot connect to either Astraweb or Afrihosts own server. With the Afrihost test account the conenction flies as well as with an old MWEB account.

And support blames Telkom again.

Yip, we will all be feed stories and apologise, of which will make no difference, in my opinion Afrihost is in the same category as Openweb now.

Yea, down graded the account as it is no use paying for something your not getting ,and I wont be bothering to look for another "ISP" they all suck.

Wish you could down grade the Telkom line as easy as you can the ISP account.

In general the internet in South Africa be it Telkom or the "ISP" is up to ****

As if by magic all latency is gone.
The dreaded word throttling does spring to mind. Either that or Afrihost has run out of capacity in the south again, but are too chicken sh*t to admit it.

Hmm IS doesn't seem to have these problems?

Also I can't remember the secret handshake Afri* said we needed to get 24 hour support :(

I know it was sms something to something :P

You just need to send a SMS with "Help" in it to 32541 and our Team will give you a call back as soon as possible. This service is available 24 hours a day.

Are you still unable to connect to GTA Online?

Morning!

I hope everyone had a pleasant Youth Day.

I've been going through the Thread, and it definitely looks latencies and even speeds were way off of expected levels. The Team is looking into this with great urgency, it is in no way cool that performance was this far down.

At the moment we're pretty much going to start from the top of the system and work our way down through everything to locate the bottleneck is happening.

While we do appreciate your response, and please understand this is nothing personal towards you,
but it feels like recurring Déjà vu every single day.
I can not fathom how these problems seem to never be resolved permanently?

I get that Déjà vu feeling as well at times... Our network stability has definitely been better, and we're taking a long hard look at the way things are running at the moment. There is significant room for improvement.

Nothing personal to you - we are always being told that it is being looked at and that there is room for improvement but nothing is improving. Sorry to say. In fact it seems to be getting worse on a daily basis (looking at the increase in the number of complaints). People are losing faith.
