Afri guys you appear to be managing my MC traffic too. Speedtest gives good results yet I'm lagging like you can't believe, change to IS no problems.

What do you mean by MC traffic? Sorry if I'm being doff, it is before 9am and I haven't had coffee yet :(

International traffic really struggling. Trying to get to Apress site impossible.

International links should be fine, but local contention is going to affect access to international.

Ja.... just a little. Remember your own network is currently not performing and you are currently not providing a remedy. Until the POCs or whatever arrive, and until it actually works, we are on our own.

+1

Totally understand, but the thread is still for Afrihost feedback, to improve what we can, to engage with you and to create discussion around this specifically. There are other threads about comparing other ISPs that are more suited, or PM is always great. We're still here in this thread to specifically discuss Business DSL topics.

As unsporting as it was, had to change to an IS account to play last night :(

That sucks. Latency should have been good though. Our reports are showing that the South is looking good on that aspect, even if throughput is not as good as it could be.

Could you not connect at all? Are there any results you can show me that I can pass onto the network people?

With the existing issues on Afrihost is it not time we take it further perhaps the CPA?

I had to use up all my Telkom capped data last night to download ad assets that I needed at our studio this morning for a meeting, because our Afrihost "business" uncapped was basically unusable. Things started to stabilize around midnight (see graph) and then the packet loss started again this morning at around 9am.

I know Afrihost is working to improve their service, but it's unacceptable that our business, which is heavily reliant on stable internet connectivity, has to basically come to a halt because of one unreliable service provider. I will try customer service this morning and give them a day to come up with some feasible workaround I can present to our bosses. Failing that, I'm afraid I'll have to recommend another ISP.

I hate to do this, but it just doesn't make sense that my Telkom account and MWEB account (which isn't even premium) can vastly and consistently outperform this business account. Maybe Afrihost should just relabel it ... or something.

Here's a 12+ hour sample size:

Edit: Just to re-iterate, AXXESS (who I believe is a "sister company" to Afrihost) is managing our lines, and according to them there's no anomalies they can see that would cause this severe degradation.

It definitely sucks that your business is feeling the effects. What I can say is that we should have some relief just around the corner. I really wish I could give a date commitment, I think that would help a lot. If I do get information like that, I will definitely share it.

For now, I can say that the testing I have done on the new network has been pretty great. All services that I was able to test worked really well, and I'll definitely continue to test as well to help tie down any priority services that the network needs to deliver on.

definitely weird. If there was latency on our side, we'd see that on the 3rd hop, but seems like intermittent timeouts. Do you get the same on any ISP account?

No other accounts were fine. Problem started about 18H00. So this time there is no Eskom or Telkom to blame. And just watcing the replies, it should be evident that there is a problem on AH's side and not on the side of the users.

The one client I have (sent you their details some time ago on the same matter) have been down from Monday. I know they are using a new ISP from yesterday morning. They are also moving their hosting to a new company due to the problems we all have been complaining about for the past few months.

And best of all is that every time AH tries to shift the blame to either Eskom (for Loadshedding) or to Telkom for line problems.

Now the company had a 3G failover system and the laughable matter is that even the 3G connection (also a Afrihost product) never EVER worked. So now I have a client that can't trust my word (as I told them to get the 3G sim from AH and also got them to drop @lantic for AH)

So now I am in the middle, being blamed that I told them to move from @lantic (where they at least had a stable and working connection) to AH with the kakest service (at the moment and for the past year) this side of the Limpopo River.

We do see spikes up in latency when demand increases - this is ultimately something that a POC implementation will fix.

You mean "that we HOPE a POC implementation will fix".
That's what proof-of-concept means. We want to see if it works. It's basically like alpha testing.
