Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Hi guys. First post on mybroadband :)

We have changed from mweb to afrihost on friday the 22nd of November (business 1mb) but since then my P2P downloads went into single digits (0.5kB/s-2.5kB/s). I have tested many different torrents and checked that the firewall settings are correct. Inbound rules for utorrent are allowed. I have also tried using a different client and that also doesn't work.
I have spoken to afrihost support and sent many speed test and trace root info, as they asked for it, but i dont think they know what the problem is or what has caused it.

If anyone had this issue and were able to fix it, please let me know.

Seems to be fixed. Still dont know what was wrong but at least its running at better speeds now.

Indeed :( We're seeing issues in the Gallo Manor DC, so our Hosting network is running into issues.
Our team are working on getting a fix out as soon as possible.

Welcome to MyBB, and Afrihost :)
Have a look in your ClientZone, under the Connectivity tab there is a protocol prioritisation which shapes P2P connections as an optional extra on our Business accounts. Disable it and you should see a fully unshaped connection :)

They just emailed me and said they have reset the account. It fixed the problem and thanks allot for the assistance.
Sorry if I was being a pain about it.

I did log into the clientzone and the prioritisation is currently disabled.

Thinking of jumping ship from Openwebs 4mb gold acc to Afrihost 4mb business uncapped. Anyone done this before? Openweb has been great first few months and exceptional service BUT I get severe lag especially when I play LoL in the evenings which is suppose to be unshaped.

Can anyone vouch for EU west pings for LoL and geneal usage of the 4mb business uncapped account? I only use like 150-250gigs a month so looking for something more stable rather than something for extreme downloading.

I am on the 4mb Business account with AH and I am absolutely loving it. Local pings are around 8ms on BF4 servers and EU servers go up to 190ms. I have never been shaped on the business account and get my full line speed all the time. Just make sure Telkom does not push your sync speed too high. This happened to me this week and caused my line to constantly drop. Has been sorted by dropping the sync speed to 6mb. My line is now running as smooth as silk. Downloaded some torrents last night at a constant 420kb-ish rate. So I am a happy camper at the moment. Just waiting to hear about their prices once the Telkom line upgrades have been completed.

Sounds great! Thanks for the info, I get 230+ ping to EU in the evenings :( Yeah they synced my line at 8mb and I also had the constant drops, now its down to 6mb which is just right.

About the prices, Im sure ive seen them advertise the new prices on facebook or something? Any info on this Afriman?

With the help of a lovely lady from Afrihost (the phone got answered within 60 seconds) I was told that the clientzone was done so thats why I couldn't upgrade my data speed. She reminded me that I had a bundle and that I needed to unbundle and rebundle. Fantastic service. 10/10

As soon as your line is upgraded, we'll be mailing all of our clients about it soon :)
Otherwise you can upgrade via the ClientZone, but you will be billed pro-rata for the rest of the month.

Upgraded? I want to stay on the same 4mb line :) I am very happy with it. plus 10mb don't work so great at my house..

When do the new bundle costs come into account? Noticed my Nov 2013 invoice still shows the old price?

That's because we've just released our prices today :) We'll mail all of our clients soon with upgrade options.
