Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

This is getting really frustrating. Speed has steadily dropped all afternoon, until now I can barely hit 2mbps on speedtest and I can't even stream Youtube. On 10mbps. "Business" Uncapped.

If only there were a feature to get a pro-rate refund for the rest of the month, so I could spend it on a different ISP that isn't having capacity issues..

Sorry to hear about this :(
Is your speed dropping a fairly regular occurrence? Does it only happen in the later afternoon?

And here I am leaving afrihost again. It seems that they cannot provide any service as advertised, seeing as they cannot provide me with any descent internet access, I suppose it is time to move on again. Been on their uncapped home and now business. Neither can actually deliver what is promised.

Sorry to hear that you're leaving us.
What all is slow on your end?

Guys once again ... Are you in the Western Cape or Port Elizabeth ? Afrihost currently has IPC congestion on the CT IPC...so everything will be inconsistent and slow in that area.

Don't bother even asking support, the issue is IPC related

Anything international. I have tried contacting your support, but they insist everything is running as normal, even though I have tested another account, and it is performing perfectly. I have logged a ticket, but have no hope of it being even looked at any time soon judging by pas experience. As I am typing this the account seems back to normal, but getting these spikes for 8 hours a day, and only on afrihost seems a bit weird.

Started a couple of days ago, I did report it and PM you test results. It is probably related to your IPC capacity issues, but is frustrating nevertheless as I get full speed on Webafrica's trial account. I was planning on switching over to one of AH's new capped packages as my usage per month doesn't justify the expenditure on Business Uncapped, but lack of an ETA on a fix is making me contemplate moving over elsewhere until things have settled down.

@Afriguy, @Afrigirl, thank you for the quick response. As per the pm things seem to be getting much better, http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3379075577.

You guys are definately far more efficient then the call center. Thanks again.

Still not sure why I am not getting full 4mbps, here are my line stats maybe you can advise me.

I don't have any telephones connected, it is just my DSL-2500U and the POTS filter. I previously had 10mbps and the average speedtest was just over 8.9mbps.

Stay in a recently developed area and all the Telkom cabling was only installed recently so all fairly new.

@TheGrove - there are issues with the Cape Town IPC at the moment. Everyone is getting pretty large fluctuations in speed, usually toward the lower spectrum. This afternoon I got a 2mbps speedtest result, on a 10mbps line. On a local speed test. So you're not alone, and it's probably not your line. You should get a trial account from another ISP and run some tests to verify - you might just be trying to debug AH's lack of capacity. What surprises me is that their support isn't just admitting the issues, and keep on trying to run through tests with you.

I do know about the IPC capacity issue, but while I have their attention just hoping they could have a quick look at my line stats etc, if there are other issues then I can get them resolved while they sort out the capacity.

May I be the first to comment - its great to see Afriguy plastered all over the AH threads. Give credit where its due!!

Gives me confidence in my choice to upgrade and stay with AH.

Thank you guys.v:D

Browsing running at half my line speed. Yet capped account runs full speed. Have you guys taken away performance from business accounts and given them to the extra data on capped ???

This all started when u cut capped prices. Why don't you wait for extra capacity before giving more capped data away ? . Its definitely affecting business accounts whether you admit it or not. Takes 5 seconds to load google page. When it suppose to be instant.
