Was there any other network activity run while doing these tests?
The first result is concerning seeing the high latency - but looking at our reporting we aren't able to replicate the high latency on our network.
Your exchange looks to be reporting some very inconsistent latencies :(

TuneIn Radio playing InterwebzRadio - that is all.
Firewall and antivirus disabled.
Lan cable not wifi.

I have no problems on the Axxess or Mweb accounts, just shaped slow.
WebAfrica is perfect 24/7.
Afrihost is the anomaly.

Do you often see spikes up on the 4th hop?

With pleasure ... any place in particular... or just to Afrihost ?

I could use your diagnostic tool if you like...

Yeah our Network test would probably be ideal, thanks :)
Drop it all to me via PM and we can analyse the details a bit more.

Exactly this. And this applies to every capacity starved AH client in the South. So AH, stop trying to make out that these are individual issues affecting individuals and wasting their time with tracerts and other silly nonsense. You have a region-wide under-provisioned product for which people are paying premium prices. Sort it out already.
They seem to deny the problem, then blame the line, the exchange etc deny it's happening to anyone else and then promise a lot that never appears. I believe they know very well that there's an issue but it would take a spend to put right.

I don't think we're intentionally pushing the blame anywhere, but we definitely want to investigate any possible slow downs that you guys see. We're aware of the shaping concerns for our standard Uncapped accounts but everything else is looking good on our end.

Additional capacity in the South should be coming online soon.

We're waiting final confirmations on this, in the past the wait hasn't been too long. I'll update once I have a clearer date line.

So how do these statements tie up?

So how do these statements tie up?

The additional capacity should help ease up the shaping. Saying that, there may still be shaping applied during peak times but it should ease off much quicker during the evenings.

While additional capacity always makes the overall experience better, we aren't seeing degradation of service.

These are business accounts. There should be zero shaping. So the slow down is a capacity issue. Too many clients battling for a limit resource.

Well, I beg to differ. There is more than enough evidence in this thread to prove to you that the business uncapped products are definitely experiencing a degradation of service in the South.

I would get far more comfort if you acknowledged this fact, posted an acknowledgement on your network status, and gave some details on how and when you intend to fix it.

We've run a fair amount of testing on our Business accounts in Cape Town and can't seem to replicate a lot of the slow down issues - now this is not to say that you guys are making this up, but in order to come to a resolution on this we need to look at all of the data individually before we look at the overall situation.

Their network tool is engineered to produce timeouts (IMO) so they have something to blame other than their puny network.

Do you have proof to back this up?
The network tool is really simple, it runs commands. If you can engineer an OS command to induce ICMP timeouts let me know. If not, rather keep your opinions to yourself please.

Hi,

So please tell me afriguy, are we now getting shaped on these business accounts ? I reached 50 gigs of data and now i cant download anything. With another ISP its working 100%. so ??

My own data.

All manual (from the command prompt) tests I've ever done on my line since 2009 have been perfect.

I use your tool and I get timeouts all over the place.

I've raised this many times before to make you aware of the problem but you say it works fine your side, and yet, 99% of results from the tool posted in these forums from various people have timeouts in them.

We definitely aren't shaping our Business accounts :)
Please drop me a PM with your account info - I'll take a look see if anything is up on the account.
