lol... first step to recovering from a problem, is admitting that you have one :) I'm so done with this, I may just as well try and see the humour in it - not that there is any...

Going like a rocket here. Streaming, downloads, porn, torrents, p2p, software updates... everything full speed. :)

Oh yeah :D .... ditto my side... :D:D

For info - If CT is South and Gangsters Paradise is North - then I guess I am middle ...... :)

(hope this doesnt jinx things now)

Hi all,

Another 2 cents from my side.

Latest speed test appears that things are back to how it should be.

A quick test via torrent gave me 1 MB/s as well.

Maybe it is just the Bothasig exchange, started somewhere after 10am this morning, very frustrating, not sure what to do. Based on all the parameters on my modem everything is still what it used to be.

Lest see what's happening here.
Drop me a PM with a ref# so I can follow up on the communication with our Accounts team and take things from there :)

On my iPad. So email searching is a bit restricted, you should have it in past PMs

Rebooted my router, got the following message, then went away still having bandwidth problems.

Telkom ACS server is busy configuring the router now.

Please try again later.

(I am not with Telkom and what are they doing to my modem ? And it is non Telkom modem)

I still suspect changes at my exchange, how do I confirm..... Afriman, can you guys check if telkom messed at the Bothasig exchange in CT?

Guess I was lucky earlier... Can't stream the live BF4 Naval Strike for a few seconds without buffering for 30 secs.

Speed also dropped in Speed test :(

Hunted, I thought I were going bonkers when u reported no problems, ran tests like crazy, thought it were Telkom, then when I tested with my 1GB capped account I saw that it is actually the business uncapped that's the problem. Eish, logged a ticked, but don't expect any result.

Sorry Man.. it was working great earlier... Got great speeds and everything.

Getting about 70% of my line speed at the moment.

Currently on my FNB account, which frankly aint much better.

With all this said. Afrihost has been for most part a great ISP. They always manages to come through with a fix. It might take a short time, but it gets sorted.

So at this stage it's frustrating, but will give them the benefit of the doubt.

You only have 1 download thread running there.. try making it 4 or 8.

blaaislaai, that server only permits single threaded operations, if I switch over to my Mweb account it flies even multithreding with 20 connections with Afrihost currently results in sub 200k speeds, if I use the exact same source at work I get 11MB/s.

I saw that message a lot on my Billion router.

It was just plain dog slow.
I don't think there is actually any thing wrong.

Hi Hunted, I logged a ticket with Afrihost, they replied that they tested the line, recreated the port, reset-ted the account auditing etc. But I am still get speeds all over the place. I am so confused at whether it is Afrihost or maybe my exchange that's now congested. I can only hope that other Afrihost users in Cape Town have the same experience and if not that at least people on my Telkom exchange are having the same problem and report it to the ISP.

This is my download graph - as you can see about 8:30AM this morning it went pear shaped.

I did a simple speedtest this morning and what a beautiful graph, I will monitor today and see what happens

One can see from my router graph that the speed picked up at midnight approached.
