Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I'm guessing you made a mistake about the shaping since this is the business thread and meant all other accounts excluding capped is shaped? Afriguy

I'm not here to Market to anyone :)
The Business Uncapped aren't shaped. The end :)

So we're back with terminology again trying to mislead. Customers are here trying to figure out why their data is 'restricted'.

Can you give a clear and unequivocal explanation for it.

Is there a bandwidth shortage or has AH made the managed pools smaller?

Doesn't matter if you call it shaping/throttling/managing if what we experience is the same.

If everything is 100% on the network, then why are there still serious issues viewing live sport on supersport (the video is really low quality so it should not be downloading much), and dstv on demand? TwitchTV is also pathetic, even on mobile quality.

I wanted to watch a movie last night on dstv on demand, it would not even stream past the opening logo. Changed to WebAfrica, watched the entire movie only had issues near the end once I ran out of my 1GB free bandwidth.

From the tests that we've run in the South (again, with the exception of the heavier shaping for standard Uncapped clients) we aren't seeing any signs of degraded services.
Saying this, we aren't ruling out any issues as we're well aware of the comments here, but we need you guys to complete thorough troubleshooting and have the results passed onto us.

Only then, can we analyse the details and possibly narrow down a trend.

Can I ask you this, what causes high latency ?

Obvious network issues barred, there are a few things that can cause high latency on an IPC network.
When a certain amount of throughput is reached users start contending for throughput - when this happens the spikes in latency are almost immediate.

During high peak times, like a massive MS update or some or other big download is required more strain is placed on certain links, this can also cause spikes in latency along the network.
I'm sure there are more scenarios that cause high latency on an IPC network, something I don't think I'm qualified enough to even start to understand or explain :(

-sigh- And I am not prepared to log a ticket for a network fault, and wait WEEKS before I even get a responce, and MONTHS before it gets resolved. My query logged on the 4th of this month, 20 days ago, is STILL not resolved - and that's a SIMPLE billing matter.

Again, get your house in order please!

You're more than welcome to PM me the info, I've already escalated a few accounts from my end.
I know this is frustrating and I'm not implying that a fix needs to come from the community - but in order to get this one fixed up we need the info from you guys.

This is bad right :D

Jokes aside, this is pretty much my connection over the last few weeks. I'm getting regular disconnects, especially while gaming - Afriguy, PMing you now aswell

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot get my news server downloads to work, it connect but stay at 0kb/s.
If I use my Afrihost capped account, it work without any problems.

Any ideas?

Go to the new Clientzone, go to your business uncapped package and turn Protocol Prioritization off :)

Basically, PP shapes P2P on business accounts so that people don't torrent at work :P

Thanks. I've changed it.

Mines pretty much the same... sometimes I get 6kbps

My prioritisation is off - I think its just my amazing connection - which is very possible Exchange related

From the line tool in the CZ can I recreate my port to be 10mbs instead of 6bms? or do I still need to run that by telkom? (line is with ah)
