Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

@Afriguy

Why is afrihost not forthcoming with a to the point, truthful answer, myself and I'm sure many other people on here get the impression that you trying to hide the facts!

From the tests that we've run in the South (again, with the exception of the heavier shaping for standard Uncapped clients) we aren't seeing any signs of degraded services.

I call BS, It is clear from simply reading this forum that either you have not done proper testing or are sticking your heads in the sand. It is beyond a reasonable doubt that performance has deteriorated rapidly over the last few weeks. This is fact !
Nearly everything has slowed down, VPN's, streaming services, torrents, nzb's, you name it, just read the forum! People can't stream DSTV or even make a skype call. So you wrong there, performance has taken a MASSIVE hit. Yet changing to a Webafrica account makes everything work 100%, any explanation ?

Obvious network issues barred, there are a few things that can cause high latency on an IPC network.
When a certain amount of throughput is reached users start contending for throughput - when this happens the spikes in latency are almost immediate.

It's ethernet, the spikes in latency are a result of a saturated link, the certain amount of throughput you speak above in bold is actually the max capacity on your IPC link, you keep latency in check by simply slowing everyone down (Shape) so that the link is no longer at the point of saturation, this stabilizes latency. I get this, but what you keep on saying is that you don't shape business accounts...I get this also...but tada...you might as well be, why because ...

YOUR CONTENTION RATIO HAS INCREASED BECAUSE YOU HAVE INSUFFICIENT CAPACITY

Now if I have a 4Mbps account and I have been shaped to say 2Mbps (I know u don't shape business accounts) then what is the difference between that and me only getting 2Mbps because of contention! You might as well shape me.

So I only see two ways out for you.

Own up and admit you lacking IPC capacity hence the higher contention, in the process saving face (temporary issue) and hopefully restore some confidence that the issue will be resolved

OR

continune on your line of there is nothing wrong, risking masses leaving from other ISP's because they think this is the new norm.

So afriguy is this the new norm ? I guess it must be because according to Afrihost everything is just dandy!

My business account has been slow the last week or so. Even the family are starting to moan now. Sigh... Thought I had finally settled on an ISP for good.

No issues on my line, been running perfect since Aug 2013.

Not very stable on an international FTP connection... Speed tests are horrible as well, ranging from 2.2kbps to 250kbps at the most to local servers on a 4mb line. Pings are fine though.

What's happening Afrihost? My connection feels like it has been getting worse and worse over the last couple days.

edit: I've tried swapping over to a WebAfrica account and it's smooth sailing with optimal speeds. I really like you Afrihost, please don't give me a reason to leave you!

Oh a screenshot of the good 'old DuMeter...

My line speed seems down a tad again tonight

Was ok this weekend for the most part.

I also demand faster downloads

What does that have to do with Afrihost? The ESO beta servers are rubbish - the speed you're getting there is great.

I found that dialing into a UK VPN immediately achieved full download speed. Our region is probably deprioritised.

FAIL.

I'm downloading the final client with my afrihost business uncapped, you do know early access starts this week right?

That is max speeds on my 6mbs, but I still demand more

I'm sorry, but AH business uncapped this month is just not the same service it has been in prior months. Despite all the green lights and hunky-dory comments from support on here. This service is badly degraded here in the South. Period.

So it works fine sometimes, like at 5am. But right now for instance, trying to stream a video, its a complete bunch of horse manure. And on a 8Mb/s line too. IPC upgrade is due when? Last time we heard it was "soon." How long do we have to wait for the normal service (the one I'm usually happy to pay for) to be resumed?

Forgive me for not being on top of one of the worst MMO's in years...

Perhaps the servers are still deprioritising our region. It's unlikely Afrihost has issues with specific download locations - I've been downloading Steam, Origin, PSN, torrent, usenet etc. in recent days with similar performance in each.

Been saying this from the start and Afriman goes on holiday and everything turns south.

My business account is unusable tonight, possible line fault maybe perhaps.

Using capped backup... and it is working just fine.

That's ok, besides I only know that because I've got myself and my SO a copy :D

Its because you are in PE. There is really no issues from my location, its been perfect since I've switched from mweb to AH in Aug 2013.

I'm not having issues though. Not sure what's up with these other people.

That's what I was hinting towards earlier - it can't be an IPC issue 'cause then everyone would be complaining :/ it must be something more localized (not necessarily the line, but maybe the town/city)

Not really. IPC CT is not the IPC in JHB/PTA.

You are all isolated cases and everything is fine on AH network.
The green light on the web site says so.
Beside the AH engineers haven't detected any problems.
Thousands upon thousands are having good experiences and are not complaining.

Their streaming at in HD without any buffering. Supersport is running flawlessly.

There you go.
I can be a rep.
