We did order the capacity on time though, we're just as frustrated as you are that it's taking this long to have it delivered and lit up :( Our team wouldn't go ahead with something if it had a negative affect on the network.

Personally, I don't think your new capacity will make a bit of difference.... I don't think the up-take of current new accounts has been calculated correctly, and we will be in the same boat as JHB / North, which got a month of relief, and now the problems are starting again............... can you say, "POOR NETWORK MANAGEMENT"?????? They must train network project managers differently up-country.... or is it just a case of JHB looking after itself again, and the rest of the country can wait?????

Guess it's a different day, but GROUNDHOG DAY, for us in the South - 32 days and counting.

The new capacity has a lot calculated in. I really wish I could go into all the details, but I'm afraid a lot of this info is for internal use.
Things will get better, I promise.

AGAIN... APPARENTLY NOT!
If this was the case, then your response to ALL UNCAPPED ACCOUNT USERS, that the reason for poor speeds and constant shaping of, "...we are waiting for IPC from Telkom...." doesn't hold water, INNIT????

Like I said in the other thread, the inconsistencies in the network, along with strange behaviour on Business accounts in the South ALL point to a shortage of bandwidth.... hence the unstable nature of these accounts. If AH planned it the way you claim, you would have more than enough bandwidth for ALL, and we would not be seeing all the bottlenecks on the AH / MTN network. Never mind the fact that we are not getting what we pay for, the general "brush-off" attitude of AH's responsibility to ALL its clients (not just the NEW capped users) is pretty evident by the lack of expertise and resolution to faults laid before them (AH).

In which universe is it OK to tell a client to wait while you fumble around, deny there's anything wrong, keep billing them, without a hint of service delivery, nor of re-compensation for time and suffering. It would appear that AH's customer relations and public relations needs to be re-evaluated - someone at the top has a very twisted, warped view of what good service is.

Talk with your wallet... Complaining clearly isn't helping you...

I used a WebAfrica account today - the whole day.
Zero issues.

True.

Been testing an Mweb trail account, also no issues, its actually amazing. Everything seems so much faster, downloads max out, and in most cases I am even getting more than my 4MB/s speed. Steam is a joy to use!

Go back to Afrihost, and back to slow browsing etc.

I understand there are issues, but then we should be compensated for the lack of service, especially if they want to retain customers.

I'm in Cpt (northern subs) and I've had my account for a week now. So far I've had absolutely no issues.
I get great local and international latency when gaming, no issues with downloading and streaming media flies

Maybe i'm just lucky?

Seems like you are, but now they know your account is working, expect the speed to drop :)

Bellville Exchange... seems to get priority in Cape Town, and your over-flow is routed through Milnerton/Blaawberg, or Barack Street - LUCKY YOU :p

...and wait till you download about 150GB, then you'll notice the slowing, weird speeds, real-time will go for s****t.....
....hmmm... sounds like shaping... but wait, AH doesn't do that to Business Accounts, do they? :p

Anyone want to check for shaping? We need a dedi server with iperf and a script. Measure throughput on each individual port, or at least the common ones...this should show if we actually are being shaped

Nice so I get home and my 4mb line is now less than a 2mb

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3397430900

Common guys what is happening

EDIT: Tried to tweak my line now in Clientzone and it has now officially been dropped to 3mb sigh. What's the bet I do another in 5 minutes and its back to 4mb

You must be one of the few that the CZ works... everytime I try to use it, I get an error :(

Still have a problem with certain sites not being accessible on this account. They are however available on ALL other ISP accounts, including AH 10MB Home Uncapped and 1GB Free account. Blatant restriction / limiting / prioritisation on my account.

Cannot access turbobit.net / hitfile.net / and a whole list of other file hosts.

... funny... the reason I logged my ticket on 03 March was because I couldn't get torrents down at more than 6kB/s - ON ANY ISP ACCOUNT.

I think Telkom has been doing some limiting on their side, as the IPC capacity nears full.
Now it's file hosting sites.... even accessing my VPS is limited to no more than 600kB/s - so much for ftp / ssh / sftp not being shaped? :erm:
