Speed just took a horrible turn for the worst about 20 minutes ago :(

Was getting about 850kB/s most of the day (I can live with that for a bit).... now only at 300kB/s multi-threaded, and bobbing up and down like an apple in a barrel ....

My speed is also "bad"

Speed test mostly at half my line speed.

Not good Afrihost, sorry to say.

Dont you think that you guys should put a notification up on your homepage under network status?
The performance is really shoddy and if I did not know any better and was not a member of this forum I would be pretty pissed that I was not informed of South Region issues.

Be honest, the network is by no means fully operational and at 100% as the status page indicates...

We're still working on your line issue to try and resolve this for you. I think you might continue to have an intermittent experience until we get this sorted for you :(

Sorry to hear that. I know that we are having some issues like this while we wait for more capacity, but we should also troubleshoot to make sure that we don't misdiagnose a line or router fault.

Have you run any tests yet?

I was hoping AH would assist me to trubleshoot whether it was line/router/account with a support cal i have/had/whatever:

Logged support Call - was asked to run tests.
Ran tests and submitted results to AH - was told that line speed=exp and i want faster i must upgrade
Submitted complaint to AH - no response, this was 3 days ago
Submitted PM to Afriguy - no response, this was 3 days ago

I eventually recieved an email saying that basically AH wont assist me further unless i move my Telkom landline rental to them too.

Unfortunately, if Afrihost does not manage your line, they cannot perform any upgrades/diagnostics on it :(

What Account and Line speed's do you have currently?

It's a big debate. We definitely want to inform clients, but we're also concerned that many clients who have issues that are not related (like line or router issues) could mistakenly think that they not connected or getting slow speeds due to this, and then a week or so later they end up being very frustrated when capacity lands and they are still having a horrible experience. Although it may reduce calls and queries for us in the short term, it may not be the best solution for our clients in the long term. We'd rather do the extra of troubleshooting, especially now that we have more people, and make sure we properly diagnose every single client's experience.

Can I change my line with ah from x mbs to y mbs through the CZ or do telkom still need to be involved e.g. Profile change.

If line is with AH, you should be able to just go to your line and upgrade/download - else you'll have to go to telkom and get them to do so (if line is with them) :)

3kb/s downloading NZB on a 10Mb business line.

Screw you Afrihost.

Sorry to hear that you're getting such slow speeds. As as I've seen, our news server is working well. Since we're in the business thread, I'm assuming you're not being shaped here.

Are you using our server or an external one?

Okay... wait :D Do you want to upgrade your line from, for eg, 10Mbps to 20Mbps? Or up your sync rate manually?

There isn't a way to up the sync from clientzone :/ (I've tried). What you can do is contact live support and they can set it to what you would like!

Sigh.... That must be the hidden expert section

I suppose I can do the live support at a later stage.
