Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Why did you create that? I've been recommending any account that's been better than Afrihost lately. For those that don't want stars I recommend Axxess.

Unlike Zertop's blind allegiance.

But moving to Axxess wont we have the same issues, they are part of Afrihost?

But moving to Axxess wont we have the same issues, they are part of Afrihost?

They are run separately. There haven't been as many Axxess users here, but the situation there seems to be a lot better and Axxess are also a lot more open about issues. Axxess put up a notice a few weeks ago to say capacity is strained, while AH feigned ignorance. We have to find out via a MyBB news article that the ETA is 10 April. Yet the reps here couldn't tell us that.

and although Telkom gets the blame (always easy to blame someone), we have been getting poor service at a premium price. Everytime we mention some type of compensation for the poor service, we get ignored. What will the excuse be if there are poor speeds after the new capacity has been added?

Will the increase capacity solve the issues when viewing sport via Supersport, Movies via DSTV Ondemand or TwitchTV??

You know what. Listen here. There is a reason I stick with Afrihost. I have tried the Lot... MWEB, Axxess, TI, Openweb and WA. All of them, for me, have had some quite shocking experiences, as well as some quite good ones. However, they didn't help me when I asked, nor provided me with extras for being a customer. They blatantly treated me as a client whom they wouldn't mind losing. (This is generalising, Openweb had great support, however slow speeds.)

Yes - I do preach Afrihost quite high, not because of a "blind allegiance", but rather because EVERY single time I have an issue, EVERY single time something is wrong, they are quick to respond and quick to help (My experience over the past few months, I haven't really had any support tickets lately - so I cannot comment on their recent support structure). Yes - their network is crap at the moment, I know. But watch - when they come out of it (Like they did last time a few years ago), all the other ISP clients who left because of the bad connection will come running back. A few months ago, MWEB had issues. After them, Telkom had issues. It's a big loop.

If you are unable to look through the downfalls of a company and look towards the future. I am sorry for you. Afrihost has a plan to make it better! I don't see the need to leave now just to come back in a few months time? Stick with WebAfrica then? Really - there is no need to come into these forums and devalue a product, just because you don't like it. I know there are issues. Believe me, I am experiencing them too - however seriously, get over it? I will help people, who I think could have an issue elsewhere, whenever I like - so please stop trying to discredit my input. Yes, there is an IPC issue - however, in the case of i.got~issues - he had 1000ms ping to all of his accounts? So, I thought it could be a line issue. 20 People out of 100's of Afrihost clients active on these forums means that the issue is not completely widespread (surely??). Yes, again there are capacity issues, however is it an issue for me to try help people? Come on?

If you would like to have an argument, please PM me - I don't think the other forum members would like us to have it out in public. I would much prefer not having one, however it is up to you.

Z

Companies change. there's no reason to be loyal. Again regarding support Afrihost themselves have said they are frantically trying to train new staff as they don't have enough.

So thank you for confirming your blind allegiance.

As for me I'll rather move around to whoever has the best service at the time. There's no reason to put up with bad service when there are perfectly good ISPs out there.

Awesome! That's fine then :)

My best ISP experience has been with Afrihost - so I'll just stay here

I have been corresponding the whole morning with AH.... three different guys screwing with my line and resyncing it to 8MB, then 10MB, then 8MB, the 10MB.....

Eventually, this is what I got from one of them,

Hope this email finds you well.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and lack of service received.

Your line sync is on 10MB profile, with regards to the slow speeds, there is an issue in the Cape Town region.
We awaiting for more capacity to be installed by MTN, I will keep you updated on this progress.

So, now it's waiting for capacity from MTN?????

This was my response... apologies, I was quite hacked off by this stage.

Good morning,

Now you're waiting for capacity from MTN???? I thought it was IPC from Telkom.... this is utter nonsense! This is a BUSINESS UNSHAPED ACCOUNT, so you are now admitting that you have been shaping/limiting it on certain protocols, all the while making all of your business clients in Cape Town do repeated tests, and making us believe we are at fault.

This has been going on since 23 February.... I still cannot access turbobit.net from this account.... this is ridiculous! I am paying Afrihost a premium, and you are costing me a month's subscription to Turbobit that I cannot use. I want any and ALL restrictions on this account removed immediately!

He gave me another test account, and it too fails to allow access to Turbobit.... so now I am back to what I asked for over a month ago, "I want a physical port change! We need to see if the traffic will be routed differently. This is what a Telkom tech advised, yet both calls have been closed and marked as resolved" :wtf:

They are using the MTN ADSL network. MTN are the ones waiting for Telkom to install capacity.

They have fixed it.

Wow - solid results there!

Also resorted to an IS based account the last 2 days, which was provided by a friendly MyBB member.

It is an uncapped test account.
I haven't really checked it, but I think it is a bit shaped during the day, but I haven't seen speeds slower than about 250kB/s during the day on Http downloads and most of the time it is higher.
From about 18:00 is full line speed on my 4Mbps line.

Unfortunately it will only last another couple of days, hopefully long enough to let my stress & agro levels drop to fight my AH account again in the new month.

I only now realize how much this AH experience is working me up.
I must add that I have a couple of TI bull**** behind me as well.

Hey Romark, it's a bog standard 4mb IC uncapped account, not a test account ;)

I don't trust test accounts and never apply for them and rather just sign up and test for myself :)

Yeah... and we've been told repeatedly that there is nothing wrong on the MTN network, and that there is more than enough capacity.... this above claims that AH is waiting for MTN to provide more bandwidth... not that Telkom needs to provide IPC, ie. THE LINK to that bandwidth. MTN, like MWEB, only needs IPC with Telkom to link to the rest of the ISP's... they have their own network and routes out of the country ;)

This is an admission that Business Uncapped is been "relegated" because of bandwidth issues.... so our claims that all the free giveaways are affecting our speeds is TRUE.

Ah okay. I did not realize.
That makes your offer even more awesome.

Thank you very much again.

:)

I think the various reps were instructed not to admit to anything, reminds me of when MWeb started to enforce their aup, and the reps refused to admit anything had changed. You have to feel sorry for these chaps/girls. Would be nice to rant at some of the bosses!
