Am I being refunded for the 50Kbs im receiving today on my Business Uncapped?

That will never happen, I asked this a few days back, never got a respose. Considering they hide behind the "best effort" clause, the consumer is always screwed, and never more so with Internet access in South Africa, we pay excessive prices, for really below par service.

Well the damage is done. They can be BLOODY sure about it that I will *NEVER* recommend them to any one again in the future.

Multi-Threaded HTTP download... 50Kbps... Seriously?!?!?! And I am paying R1K for THIS rubbish????

I switched through many accounts to try and get the BF4 updates downloaded.

The best was Webafrica. Bought pre-paid data and it flew @ 19Mbps = 2.5MB/s.

Now that was nice.

make a "best effort" payment & watch them respond as fast as lightning

Internet is well...simply unusable! While the network status says everything is fine...well AFRIHOST IT IS NOT!!! PLEASE UPDATE YOUR NETWORK STATUS !

Popping in to report - I had zero issues on AH Business with a 2MB line in the Eastern Cape over the weekend and today. I'm hoping that the IPC capacities fix everyone else's issues because this is what internet should be like.

I just signed up with Axxess for a trial account and its night and day :/

First time I have seen speeds above 300 kB/s in weeks.

Shaping now after hours??? i love afrihost but im probably gonna find another solution this month..as soon as weekends come full speed...so basicly i have 5 days of 20/kb/s 2 days full speed being 1.1 MB/s (10mb) line might try axxess

Afrihost own Axxess, and they use the same network. Surely they would be having the same capacity problems as Afrihost???

It's apparently different networks and managed independently.

Not so, it would seem. I just signed up for an Axxess business account, having seen no reported problems on their network status page, but now when I log in to the clientzone I get the following message:

High Demand in Southern and Eastern Regions [Posted: 2014-03-24 13:35:00]
We are experiencing high network demand in the South and East (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban), resulting in real time services being affected on Uncapped accounts. This infrastructure is expected to be upgraded within 2 weeks, which will resolve the congestion. We appreciate your understanding whilst we await completion of the upgrade.

Not very open of them, I'd say - only notifying me of a problem after I've signed up.

I just sent Afriman a message.

This is ridiculous. From uncapped to business uncapped and capped, and yet I get 50kb/s on things like emails. In what world is this acceptable for a 10Mb line.

Damn, 300ms+ to local sites this morning.

Afrihost, time to push Telkom..... Tell them to pull finger and get the extra capacity online already.....

That was posted weeks ago. And I don't even have an account with them. I think maybe get new glasses :p

Now at 500ms and climbing,

Surely there is something Afrihost can throttle (Windows Updates) until the new capacity comes online?

Well... I remember seeing it on their homepage when I signed up for a test account... now they have a green light as well, just like their daddy!

So, I assume that all is perfect when I sign up, then find the notice in the clientzone... not very good on them then.

Day 10 of my 10mb Business Uncapped and it still hasn't skipped a beat. Low latencies, full speed downloads 24/7 (p2p / Steam etc), flawless HD streaming (Twitch / Netflix etc) & general awesomeness all round. Currently downloading from Astraweb at a steady 1mB/sec. Am I part of a lucky minority?

Morningside, Durban (Gordon Road exchange)

That's awesome - great to hear that many clients are still getting a great internet experience - despite the challenge's we're facing :)

This. Ping is still appalling, I sent an email to support on Saturday, got a reply in pretty good time, my ports were recreated, but still no go. I was also asked to provide speed/ping tests and trace routes which I did. Got another email today which was just. shocking to say the least.

"Please be advised that our AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) sates : As a Capped client you are completely unshaped no matter what you are doing, and no matter what the time of day or night it is. This means that we will not slow down your connection speed (by either shaping or throttling) no matter what you download or connect to. Your speed will be as fast as your Telkom ADSL line allows for every kind of traffic (Actual speed is dependent on line speed, distance from the exchange, quality of the cabling in your area and current capacity of your Telkom exchange).

Since your line is not being managed by us, kindly contact Telkom and ask for your line ports to be recreated and your line set to sync at the maximum required speed.

I hope that the above has been informative, should require anymore clarity please feel free to contact us."

First of all, I have an uncapped account, so why was that even quoted at all? Secondly my account has been managed by Afrihost since December 2012. Thirdly my ports were already recreated and it clearly didn't help. Quite shocked that I received such a useless copy paste response that was completely unhelpful to me, feel completely written off before anyone has even tried to find out what the issue is.

Sounds like the consultant didn't thoroughly understand the query and provided too much information that was off-topic.

Please do PM me so I can get the right people onto this ASAP :(

Guys this is getting pretty ridiculous...I really think that we all need to get compensated in some way, a month without internet we are paying for is unacceptable!

I know this is a frustrating experience - but I do believe that our management will find a way to resolve the issue and make it up to our clients. We've done it in the past with mystery discounts and bonuses - I believe we will get this right in the long run for our clients.

What I dont get is why the "Business Uncapped" is also feeling this - arent we supposedly unshaped? I moved to Business Uncapped from "normal" uncapped recently to try and get BF4 updates & Youtube working - even though "real time services is not impacted" - but the experience has been strikingly similar... at a higher cost :(
