Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I'd prefer to be discreet regarding the particulars of what was discussed between myself and the client here - I think that it appropriate.

In broad terms, any business relationship relies on trust and communication. When those break down, it makes sense to review and say "Can we move forward?". As much as a client signs up and would ask themselves whether they want to stay in that relationship, we also need to look at this from our perspective decide if the same holds true. Any client can give us notice within the month and receive service until their cancellation date. So I think it's more than fair if that holds true the other way around, especially if we are prepared to give that client a full refund for the month, and then give them enough notice to ensure they can reasonably find alternative services elsewhere.

I don't expect that anyone would only say good things about us, and no-one should feel that they can't give honest (perhaps occasionally brutal) feedback. But firstly, you need to make your point, and then move on so others can make theirs. Secondly, when feedback is no longer constructive - then it comes back to the relationship and asking the question.

Once I start receiving messages from other clients that they no longer feel safe to post in the feedback thread, and complain that this is becoming unpleasant for them, then clearly it's something that must be addressed. If the other party is not willing to compromise or work with us, then clearly we've reached a stage where we need to part ways so that they can pursue a more suitable service elsewhere and we can continue to focus on those clients who want to be engaged and who want to find solutions or meaningful information.

We discussed nothing, you PM'd me saying you are going to cancel my accounts, NOWHERE in your ToS does it state what I did is grounds for termination. So please expose what we discuss and also exposed how I almost begged you not to cancel my accounts.

If this was a major issue, why not report it to MyBB you did not have to respond to my questions.

This is a open forum not something Afrihost controls.

I did not once attack you personally, and I will never do that because you are only doing your job, but I also expect to get answers to my questions and not just be told the same thing over and over again.

And I did compromise, I said refund us for the period of March.

This is far from over.

What you meant to say, was "Can we move forward on Afrihost's terms and completely disregard everything else because we won't budge a inch"... It's a two way relationship, and by not giving refunds (and I am openly stating AT LEAST 1 full month's worth of refunds), you are sending a VERY clear message that it's Afrihost's way, or the high way... So who's the deceitful one here?

It's a pitty there isn't an ombudsman for ISPs... It would be VERY interesting to see this saga go to an independent person for opinions. We as consumers have rights, Afrihost has rights - we need to MEET IN THE MIDDLE, and Afrihost is NOT prepared to do that!

BTW - http://hellopeter.com/afri-host-com/compliments-and-complaints That says quite allot...

@Afriman, I have now once again re-activated my accounts in the client zone, lets hope that we have now moved past the cancelation and I can continue to be a client.

I would however expect an apology from management.

Dude, that is not cool.

If you get a refund, they will cancel you and that will be your last interaction with Afrihost!

They are prima-Donnas!

They will likely also delay and mess you about with the refund as well, like a child scorned.

I have an open ticket for incorrect billing since 10 March. I moved from 10MB Home Uncapped to 4MB Business. This took 3 days, as there was, and I believe still is, a major problem with CZ. Once on 4MB Business, this account was virtually unusable, so I decided to revert to my 10MB Home Uncapped. Once again, major issues with CZ, and a support rep phoned me. While on the phone I was promised that I would not incur ANY costs for the changes. She then proceeded to make a huge mistake and chage the account to 10MB Business.... I repeated that I wanted my account returned to 10MB Home, but again, the system locked up and wouldn't allow even her to change it to the correct bundle. After another 10 minutes on the phone and many re-assurances and promises that I would NOT incur additional costs, it was to be referred to the tech's to sort out. I was told to use the account for the mean time, while everything was sorted out. 4 Days went by, and then the account was changed to my original 10MB Home Uncapped. A week later, I noticed that I had been billed pro-rata for the line AND for the data on 10MB Business! This was taken off the same day from my credit card.

I have logged numerous tickets with no response... I have referred it to reps on the forum here, but nothing has come of it - I AM STILL WAITING. AH didn't have an issue taking of the full amount at the beginning of the month either.

Sorry.... but that is not service! It can't be that hard to return money you have taken, as a direct result of a mistake one of YOUR staff has made??? and this is on top of the p***s poor ALWAYS SHAPED @ 12.5% and 6.5% account.

....and then we come to my so-called premium "GUARANTEED UNSHAPED" 10MB Business account... WELL.... what an absolute nightmare :wtf:

ISPA I think takes that role which after it is ICASA. However... you might find them not so good looking at what happened with mweb VS the people.

Why not discuss it at length here that you are going to treat me like a child and lock me out of client zone.

I have apologised to you, and asked you not to cancel my accounts. Leave my accounts activated and lets move past this.

Actually you're bound by your terms and conditions, not by your emotions relating to trust.

Please quote the relevant terms of service that allow you to cancel a customer's account due to feedback they provide in a feedback thread where you offer semi-official support channels.

Stop dodging the question - it's not a complicated one, and I too am well versed in the gift of the gab to avoid difficult questions, which is all you're doing.

I have also been talking to jeanres in private, and have the communications you and him and have had. I've also read over this thread. If you had an issue with his actions, you were well within your rights to report them to the moderators for review. If they're unproductive in a feedback thread, mods will delete them and request that the poster use a new thread for such discussions. Simple.

Instead you adopted a vindictive approach, by cancelling the customer's account without notice, as required by your own Ts and Cs. Your PM does not constitute a formal notification of cancellation of service.

How are other customers expected to respond to this? All it does is set a precedent that Afrihost will cancel your BUSINESS account with them if you post negatively about them in a feedback thread, or if they subjectively decide that your actions result in a breakdown of trust. This whole trust thing is quite preposterous in any case. Such an expectation exists between employers and employees. What expected trust was breached here? There is no expectation of trust with a customer to the extent that they will not post publicly about their troubles with your company. Such an expectation does not exist. You're simply bullschitting here.

What you did was let ego get in the way of customer service.

Let's break down the course of events here:

customers have since last year been experiencing major troubles
Afrihost promise to resolve them...vaguely
Come April 2014 the very same problems still exist, and are blamed on IPC which you claim to have bought last year (LOL)
Customers have reached breaking point, and post harshly about this lack of service, because it seems dancing around the point for months had no positive return for them
Afrihost cancel one particular customer's account because they don't like the fact that he was posting regularly about these legitimate troubles.
Afrihost hide behind some pseudo-trust relationship that really doesn't exist in the real world. Your customers are not your employees.
Afrihost refuse to acknowledge that no parts of their contract afford them the right to cancel without notice because they don't appreciate the feedback they received

Now you guys have every right to cancel an account with notice for whatever reason under the sun. At least inform your customer properly. They're running a business with these accounts, and the customer in question has had to try to reactivate his account multiple times now to retain service. In addition the customer has his Telkom line with Afrihost and is petrified that his Telkom line is now going to be cancelled because of this. Why? Because Afrihost did not communicate the cancellation properly.

And while you have every right to cancel the terms and provision of service, it speaks volumes that this is as a result of poor feedback given in a feedback thread. If you can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen. Or resolve the problem that has been going on for months. IPC does not take months to install - what a crock of schit! And this is for business accounts, to boot!

So I ask once again, for the sake of everyone else, please advise what actions we may take on the forum to retain Afrihost's services, and what actions we are no longer allowed to take on the forum, and how these tie in with your terms and conditions. Also, have you alerted Rudolph Muller to the fact that you have changed your communication interaction on the forum, and that there is now a limit as to how many negative posts a specific forum member can make before his account is terminated without proper notice? I think you owe it to the forum in general to alert everyone as to what these new limits are...

AGREED... it just says it all.

Look at how many of those complaints are from this last month? Not to mention that some haven't even gotten a response, or they have gotten the same type of non-specific, side-steeping answers we have ALL been given.

...."something wrong here.... "

They are a member of ISPA and you can report them to ISPA...

I've listened to and responded to your proposals and explained why they are not practical or viable. I've also explained how installing additional capacity comes at huge risk and cost to us. If I remember correctly - your response was along the lines of "I don't care".

Again, if we can't talk to each other - then it doesn't bode well for an ongoing business relationship.

I know you don't want to get into a public dispute with people in the feedback thread but for Afrihost's sake as well i think you need to communicate here publicly. That way everyone can quote the truth in context here and there is no he said, she said. I think the pm's and the he said, she said surrounding that is not helping in sorting this matter out.

I've sent you a PM on this.

Dude, that is not cool.

I've been informed that you are now locking jeanres out of his client control panel.

So this business customer who has had issues for months because of a ridiculous IPC excuse by Afrihost, who has now reached the end of his tether and posts as such, has is account cancelled, is locked out of his control panel, is none the wiser as to whether his Telkom line for his business is now also going to be cancelled, and is left completely in the dark, because you didn't like his feedback in a feedback thread on mybb?

Actually Afrihost - THAT'S NOT COOL!!!

So you're saying that jeanres caused other clients to not want to post in the feedback thread?

:erm:

As stated the problem is not the complain its the sheer continuous volumes of it.

I mean if I want to post here why would I when its just a rickrolled of complains and my post will just disappear?

Hence I've suggested multiple times to create a thread for the whole IPC affair. However one has to wonder why that was not done, I mean it is not so hard to create and maintain. Single entry point, single focus point for the IPC problems and not a waterfall of complaints in the feedback. This is also why I asked they question when and where you draw the line and move out of this thread into that thread which has never been created.

Just because you can complain doesn't mean you need to do so on each and every count you are able to. If you feel you need to do it this way then, again, create thread and fire away. Nothing stops you even from making up an article on this and giving it over to mybb. I've been asked to do this in the past due to excessive moaning and bitching over the mweb saga and so on.

If you feel so strong get of your fscking arse and lay complains, go papers, go live, facebook, gooooooooooooo suuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

for godsakes just apply some forethought.

How was your account terminated without notice if it will stay active until the end of April and you will get a full month's refund? Seems like a decent middle ground to me.

Never said it was terminated with immediate effect, I have countless time said that I need my current static ip for work, and that is why I am fighting this.
