Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I see a few people reporting similar throughput issues from last night. Seems like between 8pm and 10pm when you guys reported this. Strangely, the demand was fairly consistent throughout the data yesterday, though it did seem to drop off around 10pm, when things appear to have improved.

We are pushing as hard as we can for the additional IPC in the North and South. Remember that we only got part of what we requested, so it was only a patch on the problems we've had previously, and we're expecting a more long term resolution with the full upgrade.

Sadly the performance of my connection isn't just affecting torrents. I have been getting poor download speeds on Steam and HTTP downloads.

Sounds like there is another issue - because there is no shaping on Business that would affect any traffic, whether P2P or otherwise.

Can you drop me a PM so we can test further?

Speed is only 120 Kb/s on telkom I get 620 Kb/s every evening is the same the speed is going up and down from 18:00 on
From pe

That sucks - truly. Do you get the 6Mbps speed consistently on another network or does it fluctuate if you're connected for long periods?

Yep, same here, since the MTN "takeover" i guess i will also be looking for another ISP as my everything is slow....even youtube on 360P........

The MTN deal is definitely not related to anything technical for day to day services - if anything this should help us improve our services in most areas, since most of our services are on the MTN already.

It's still funny that you don't hear of these issues from other ISPs.

Been having intermittent speed issues. Was happening all of yesterday (8th June). Whole day today (9th June) was fine till just now about 10pm - 12am Periodically speed (browsing, downloading, streaming) all drops to unusable and then after couple seconds, speed back to normal. Happens every few minutes. Incredibly frustrating.

Speed test shows speed normal but seems like there's a jitter or something.

After 10pm seems inconsistent with when we see demand decrease substantially - I would want to run more tests. Also, when there is contention, latency generally stays stable and we see some reduction in throughput intermittently. Haven't seen any increase or incidences of jitter causing issues.

Please drop me a PM.

Some awesome news for clients in the North. We have received some additional IPC capacity to improve our client's overall experience. We should start seeing an overall improvement. Thanks for bearing with us.

However, just remember that we can still use the network optimally for the best benefit. I'd always like to encourage clients to schedule torrents and heavy downloads for late at night or overnight. This will ensure that we can always deliver the best possible experience, especially on realtime services like streaming, gaming and browsing.

I'm still awaiting news on the South upgrade - I believe it's also imminent.

If it would just stay like this;

between 5pm and 6am during the week and not disintegrate to under 800Kbs...

I would be very, very happy.
