Do you route people through IPC based on location, or demand ?
We route through IPC by region, not by demand at all. It would be very complex to route by demand, ultimately probably would be inefficient to try to be that responsive

Definitely not a switch being thrown on our side, but remember that this is a trend across tens of thousands of users. It's possible that everyone gets the same idea more or less at the same time (i.e. stop surfing the net and go to bed) and it may seem pretty dramatic. We see the same dramatic upsurge at 8am everyday.
best it wait for the IPC upgrade to come through
I've seen that 10pm is when demand seems to dramatically taper off. If we can't test further, I think the best it wait for the IPC upgrade to come through, and I suspect these symptoms will disappear.
As far as I know the IP is assigned to you by the local Telkom BRAS from the range that've available for that region, and we then authenticate against the username and the IP.
Are you having problems with your general latency, or just on Diablo?
Hello everyone!
I have signed up for a 2Mbps Business Uncapped DSL account yesterday, and I am also an avid League of Legends player.
I have noticed that during business hours I have a ping of 207/208 while playing League of Legends, but after business hours, this ping rises to an unplayable 700. The same happens with downloads - during the day I am able to download at full speeds, but during the evening I receive no more than 100kbps.
I chose to sign up for an Afrihost Business account because it is advertised as unshaped and unmetered (I had a ton of problems with shaping/throttling from other ISPs). However, from my initial experience, it appears that this is not the case.

Is dropping speeds after business hours a common problem with the Afrihost Business accounts, and if not, can anyone please make some suggestions as to what I can try to speed up my line after business hours. Ideally, I would like a line that runs on full speed 24/7, as this is what I believe I pay for.
Thanks for any help!
I just tested my Business Uncapped and 1GB capped account, directly after each other and here are the results for the tests:
Business Uncapped - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3557250641
1GB Capped - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3557243224
As you can see its hardly great for a 2meg account/account. I can't understand how the capped account is only getting 512K speeds and the uncapped account is getting 1meg speeds.
I have sent all these details to Afriman but I thought it would be of interest to the rest of you. Needless to say I am not happy with the performance of my line. Does anyone know of another ISP with a free account that I can test my line with?

I'm sorry to hear that you're getting such a poor experience. We'd need to establish whether the latency you're seeing is general or only in-game. I'm not seeing generally high latency anywhere on the network, so it depends on what we'll see on more thorough tests. Running our Network Test App when things are not so great will tell us where additional latency could be coming from. Also, check the LOL forums to see if you can identify the server IP you are likely to be connected to and run some traces specifically to those IPs so we can analyse the routing and latency.
For your client's convenience?Which business clients would prefer to struggle from 17h to 21h instead of 22h onward?
Was wondering my my youtube refused to work![]()
Afrihost with all their honesty just forced me to "un-cancel" my account.
This looks to me like you've got some intermittent congestion or a line fault - causing your second hop to be higher than it should be. It means you'll get unreliable, intermittent results, whether you change accounts or not. We are going to be contacting you shortly to test further and confirm![]()
