Seems as though it's not Afrihost's fault. MTN just made poor choices with regards to international routing and peering.

Good luck getting them to admit it though.

Sorry to hear you're having troubles with this :(
Are you seeing this problem with all of the streams or only certain ones? From what we've seen, Twitch is very bandwidth heavy on some of their streams.

Is all streaming a bit hit and miss for you? Shouldn't be any issues causing this on a VDSL line.

We've been complaining about Hulu streaming not working great on Afrihost for weeks. It works great on WebAfrica, Telkom and other ISPs. It's just Afrihost where it doesn't perform on the Business Account, but it performs great on the 1Gb free account.

Please don't make it sound like it's the first time you've heard about the Hulu issue :(

+1 , I also get poor performance on Hulu with Afrihost. Netflix is useless

From PE, but obviously routing through Cape Town. Still connected. Complained about authentication last Thursday or Friday. Afriguy said I should PM him which I did. Till today, no feedback from him. I have given up on AH. They are at best a backup account for me. 5 days to go, then I'm gone.

Edit:
The 2 Meg business account hasn't preformed bad at at all, but apart from Afriman , the support is below par and too many issues with capacity and lately authentication.

Seriously, what is going on with online streaming videos?
There should be NO issues streaming a Youtube vid at 720p or 1080p with a 6Mb line, right?

There are zero issues with downloading torrents or anything else (torrents are still hitting 600+k/sec and stay above 500k/sec most of the time and game updates and such via STEAM are sometimes peaking at 1.6Mb), yet ANY form of online video streaming sucks gorilla balls.

Two weeks and counting....

Answer is pretty obvious to me - AH are juggling the accounts trying to plug holes as they appear as they don't seem to have sufficient capacity, particularly in the South. This is probably due to AH still signing up too many new accounts. I am sure that Afriman will yet again quote the company line and deny this but I think that the days of pulling the wool over our eyes and stringing us along have long passed as from the posts here we even see people with uncapped business accounts and, like me, capped accounts which we are guaranteed are not throttled or, to use the PC name so loved by Afriman, shaped, not getting the service they are paying a premium for. I have decided to go to bed now as video streaming is impossible - in fact for the past months I have not been able to stream more than about 4GB a day (I have 10Mbps adsl) and the buffering just drives me crazy! Maybe the authentication issues yesterday were due to the large number of people trying to connect to cancel their accounts. Just saying.

Twitch streaming on high is working for me at the moment. Bandwidth ranging from 1.2 to 2 Mbps. Hopefully this lasts
