Good. If you don't want to stream twitch.tv

Seriously? Even on expensive AH Business Uncapped? All of a sudden, MWEB Premium Uncapped is starting to look very attractive right now. Never had issues when streaming Twitch.tv on my old MWEB 1Mb account last year.

MTN seem to have some international streaming issues. Whether it be Twitch, Netflix or Youtube vids that aren't cached locally.

We are looking into the performance of some services based in the US which are not performing as well as they could. However all my tests on EU and UK services (where our international cables terminate) are excellent.

I can browse the site and trace to it. Definitely seems pretty normal from my side.

Have you raised a query with them?

Hi I'm considering changing today from Telkom to 10mbps home, but it seems they are having some issues with those packages. 4mbps Business Uncapped is my next choice. Is it experiencing the same issues?

Also, how about this: If I go for 10mbps Home Uncapped, and it doesn't turn out well, can I change package online to the business then just pay for only however long I had the 10mbps?

No, you would pay pro-rata now for 10mb, then if you decide on business, then pro-rata on that. So best to change as close to the 25th as possible.

Hmmm ... really an about turn for me for a change.

I am experiencing none of the issues mentioned down here in the southern suburbs of Cape Town.
Cannot comment on Hulu / Netflix, but my Youtube is fine, my Twitch streaming is buffer free on high.
It has been like this since last month on my 4Mbs Business Account.
School holidays has really seen this account work overtime... and with no problems.

Sounds like Afrihost is pulling a Telkom. Throttling all accounts from 5-10 then blaming it on someone else or saying that they're "testing" for like 2 months. Really annoying

Can't do f-all with streaming AGAIN tonight. So over this.

Time to move on, enough of this. But where does one move? All ISPs seem to be in a competition to deliver the worst service possible.

Any ideas and suggestions for unshaped unthrottled accounts, as was supposedly promised by an Afrihost Business account, would be appreciated.

You can change your package at any time in ClientZone. If you're upgrading from Home to Business, then the change should be applicable within 24 hours (With a pro-rata amount due, depending on the price difference on the packages you are looking at).

Sorry to hear this. We are seeing that US based streaming is not as good as it could be. Twitch uses US and EU based servers, so it seems like performance could be affected by where they are serving the content you are looking at.

You can drop me a PM so I can test with the streams you are having problems with and find out what I can.

Beautiful 4mb uncapped FML

Definitely not to great there. Did you run our Network Test App for some more detailed diagnostics?

Do you experience this kind of speed consistently, or at certain times of the day/night?

Can you see what kind of throughput you are getting on your line so we can see if this is a throughput or latency problem? Maybe run a only Hulu and then monitor on BitMeter OS so we can see if throughput it not as good as it could be.

I think the complaints I am seeing relate mostly to international. I'm pretty confident that our UK/EU traffic is great. My tests show almost line speed downloading a file directly from a server in Amsterdam, basically maxxing my line. US service is generally not as good, but I've seen it definitely could be better, especially when it comes to HD streaming on Netflix. Netflix EU service also seems to be fine in our tests. I believe that YouTube cached locally or in EU is also performing well.
