You didn't open the link, did you? :D
Download speed.... 33kbps ;)

Aaahh, that would have been useful! I guess I need to account for sarcasm :(

Definitely nothing going wrong on the network side.

@VScheepers - please PM me, if you're getting speeds like that there is something else wrong, we're seeing normal speeds all round on this side :(

Hi Afriman,

I don't know if its the exchange tho...Hopefully it will be cut over soon...

I have a Problem Sendung Email to my @me.com Email
I get a spam Massage

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

[email protected]
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<[email protected]>:
host mx5.me.com.akadns.net [17.172.34.68]: 550 5.7.0 Blocked - see https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi?ip=41.181.159.170:
[email protected]

That's pretty odd. It could be that because we use dynamic IP assignment, the previous user was sending SPAM.

You'll need to log in with a different username to change your IP address. Do you have a Free GB account? Otherwise you'll need to do a hard reboot on your router by leaving it off for 15-20 minutes.

It depends on which SPAM authority they use, not all ISPs use the same one, and each has their own blacklist rules and process. If our SMTP was blocked, we'd have thousands of rejected mail complaints :(

Try out the Free GB and get a different IP and check if it still happens

I see the slowdown on the Afrihost network is also affecting my business account. I understand Afrihost still doesn't want to admit there's a problem but perhaps a reevaluation of this stance is in order? I have been seriously impressed with Afrihost up to this point but can't tolerate their current ignorance, how can you not admit something is wrong when so many people are complaining?

Hey, do a speettest.net and a testmy.net and post the results. Perhaps there is something one can help you with :)

Downloads are generally very fast, but latency has gotten worse. A ticket is open with AH and this seems to be a AH issue and not a congestion issue as previously mentioned.

We're always the first to admit that there is a problem, even if our clients haven't realised there is one just yet. From our side nothing is broken on the network, but we can't explain the increased demand in a matter of days. We have some theories, but we're not going to present that as fact when the honest truth is we don't know why our clients are demanding more bandwidth than previously and in such a short space of time.

We have years of experience in managing bandwidth and listening to our clients needs, and an upsurge in demand, over such a short period, is unusual and generally not sustainable. We have seen some instances like this in the past, and we feel demand will settle. For now, the network is doing it's job, managing demand by shaping torrents and download demand on Uncapped so that Business and Capped continue to run at premium levels. From what I am seeing from PM complaints, there are still many external factors affecting DSL performance.

The longer the general uncapped population is shaped to death, the longer the backlog of downloads, hence the increase in current demand is only going to grow.
It's gonna implode! :p
