Everything works fine here.

I did notice some routers have "RTSP ALG". Try disable that and see....
 
Full speed on another account. Definitely something up on the network. Nobody else in Cape Town with issues?

Weird. I can reach full speed at 950k/sec on NNTP with 20 connections - but speed test, web browsing etc are all hovering about 2-4mbps. Hopefully just an issue locally MTN will resolve quickly. Rather annoying that it keeps happening during "prime time" in the evening.

It may be that the higher speed is causing you to sync below the actual capability of your line. So you'll experience intermittent packet loss and latency, and on occasion may manifest as a timeout. We'll need to check that you have a healthy sync. Attenuation (resistance to signal) also tends to increase as you go higher with sync speed, and signal to noise tends to drop, which can further worsen the problem.

Took me all but 10mins :D

Mweb's static IP service was giving latency of 120ms, with Afrihost I get 22ms super happy.

Speed test can also be temperamental, depending on the connectivity at the various centres. I also find using different servers show different results.

Torrents and NZB's are very good at saturating your line and max and giving good speed indications. Only problem there is you never know if the specific torrent is running at best possible speed as the person seeding to you may be throttled or on a slow line.

No issues for me on YouTube last night. Our guy in Cape Town also didn't really report any issues. Is this still an issue?

Nope, very fast at the moment, hence my confusion - you'd expect problems during the day when there's more traffic, but last 2 evenings have been dismal for some reason. Downloading has been fine, but when I can't saturate the line with multiple streams, like video streaming or browsing, it's been really slow, like taking up to 10 seconds to load a 150k JPG.

I'll check again tonight - it seems to start around 7 and continue till the early hours.
 
I have experienced the same problem with my Afrihost Business uncapped account. Downloads are incredible (http, nntp), but streaming and browsing are sub par. Youtube works alright (except when I tried using it at 2:30am this morning while feeding my baby). I can mostly watch 720p with minimal pausing.

Netflix (yes, I know, unsupported) was incredibly bad and rendering in the lowest quality.

I did this testing at around 7pm last night. Again downloading is incredible, but if I stop my downloads and try using real time protocols things seem bad. :(

Same here, however using speedtest never gives the optimal result desired. I also get full speed via NNTP and even via p2p.

To be clear - this is just happening the last 2 evenings - before that, things were running smoothly, and I was getting full speed via local and international speed tests after hours.

Afriman/Afriguy - could you have someone in support who's on duty after 7pm keep an eye on things in Cape Town tonight just in case? I honestly wouldn't complain about browsing/streaming speeds unless they were REALLY poor, which they have been.
 
Also having problems. I have 100gig account at home, uncapped at the office. Both of them struggle to stream YouTube. Only streams for a few seconds, then stops completely and lowers the quality to the lowest possible.

Please look into this.

The Cape Town region IPC graphs are looking healthy today, could you guys confirm what exactly is slow?
Is it sluggish overall or only certain protocols?

I'm having no problems right now - as mentioned earlier, for me at least, the problem is occurring in the evening after 7'ish, when browsing/streaming is slowing down to a crawl.

If you notice a slow down tonight please drop me a PM with a traceroute and your account info, I'll run some troubleshooting from there :)
