Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Hey guys

I just posted in the other Uncapped thread, Windows 8.1 was released today - so our network may be a bit busier than usual. We're monitoring things very closely though - the demand should be dipping off fairly soon.

Well my 2Mb account (you're welcome to have an accident and bump it to 10 :D ) is cruising along just nicely. Was a drag updating to 8.1 with it though :( (compared to my capped account)

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1909 kbps (238.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 808 kbps (101 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 12 ms

Hmm Maybe I must use my FNB account to get the update finished. Windows 8.1 update is only on 51% :(

It's free so can just as well try it.

How did you get the free update, I dont find it in the app store
 
open your internet browser - Firefox or what ever you use.

Paste this -> ms-windows-store:WindowsUpgrade <- in your browser

It will open your Appstore for you with the option to download the 8.1 update,
 
Network was screwed up last night. Couldn't stream for more than a few seconds without buffering and my overnight scheduled downloads which were only 3.2Gb didn't finish.

Sorry that it's not coming through, might also be load on the server, probably kazillions of people trying to grab it on release day :(

Sorry to hear that. When I check my reports I don't see any big anomalies in throughput or latency.

Are you all good now though? We'll need to run some tests the next time this happens :(

Identical.
They're the same, with the maximum speed on one and having a cap on the other one being the only difference. (I've got both a capped account and a Business uncapped account).

I'm out at a client today so I'm unable to test. Last night was the first time this has happened to me, with the streaming that is, and the trace routes I did were as they usually were.

Even more concerning, though, was that my scheduled (between 1am and 6am) torrents didn't finish when usually it doesn't take more than 3 hours to finish torrents of that size.

Correct, Capped and Business are actually drawn from the same unshaped pool. Only difference is that Business is locked to one line and has a package rate limit. Otherwise identical :)
 
What is the general response time for Afrihost support requests? I've been trying since Tuesday to get a response to a query.
