Howsit AfriGuy,

How do we benefit from the discounts as i am still being charged the old price?

Thanks

+1 I also got charged R597 for a 2Mb bundle for December. After my disastrous try to upgrade to 4Mb. Not cool guys.

I am going to reverse my payment and pay them the R797 that I should be paying. This is daylight robbery, i'm sorry..

As I've mentioned previously, you can turn the setting on or off at any time in ClientZone and it will take effect in a matter of minutes.

With regard to default settings - we have to go by what we feel is the general pulse of the client's using this product. After all, we developed the feature to assist the numerous clients who have complained about poor performance and degraded throughput for vital business services - only to find that an employee is running torrents or NNTP at work.

We have to weigh up how many clients would prefer to have the feature on by default and how many would prefer to set it themselves - and we do believe we made the right call. If experiences proves otherwise, we can change it around.

Okay, then you have to tell people about it when they sign up. If you don't, then you're being dishonest.

Not getting anything close to my line speed.

In game pings are fine but HTTP download speeds as well as P2P are just piss poor. Not even getting download speeds acceptable for a 1Mbps line. I don't feel like phoning up the service center to be told that my line is fine.

Unfortunately, there is still a high latency here :/

Hop 2 should be under 15ms

Which DNS servers are you using?

But that still doesn't make sense......I'm on 2Mb's, and I can't go any higher unless somebody from AH kicks telkom up their ^%*%* to fix my line(nudge nudge, update would be cool). I thought the adjustment from Telkom took effect 1 December?

It did, and they are selling the new pricing to new customers. I am really furious!!

In that case instead of pointing to another thread can we please get clarity on why the old pricing was used. Since upgrades are irrelevant to the matter of which pricing to use......let's not confuse two issues.

We are using the same pricing until our client makes a choice. Becuase Telkom are still billing us the same rate assuming the an upgrade has happened or is pending.

So, if you were on 2Mbps (previously Faster DSL, you'd now be pending 4Mbps now DSL 2) - Telkom are still billing us for a DSL 2 line, just that they haven't got to do the upgrade just yet. So unless you downgrade to DSL1 (new 2Mbps), there is no saving to pass on.

In most cases we're having to wait for Telkom to perform the upgrade, because they also won't let people on 2Mbps lines downgrade to 2Mbps - even though you are technically on a different product as per their system.

We're doing our best to make this as smooth as possible but we are restricted by what Telkom allows us to do :(

No, the new products are available to the public from 25th November - but they're only going to complete the upgrades by Mid Feb 2014.

In some cases "upgrades" clients and find their lines don't sync and then just drop the sync rate - so we're still unsure about how these cases are going to be handled by them. But I think best will be to immediately downgrade your product as soon as your line is upgraded so you pay less and you don't end up with connectivity issues :(

Your ping on the 2nd hop is too high. Anything over 10-12ms is concerning - so over 30ms is definitely worrying.

The * also indicate packet loss - and that's not good at all.

Have you tested on another network to see if you get the same results? Before we assume this is congestion or line related - which it does look like so far :(

Honestly this is making me wonder whether it's even worth having you guys manage my line. Because on top of this fun little excersise I am also waiting for feedback on my request logged the 18th. If Afrihost purely plays middleman just passing the call to Telkom and forget it then I don't know what te value is.

just joined afrihost business and wow that was a fast process...
