Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I have reloaded the firmware countless times. I have reset the router countless times. I have replaced the POTS filter countless times. I have run more tests than I care to admit.

I do not know anyone around here who has the same router or that uses ADSL. The neighbors I do talk to have mobile network internet.

On that note, if it was the router, it would be crap permanently.
It is an intermittent issue. Earlier today (and most of last night) I was downloading, browsing, etc with absolutely no issues.

It does this regularly. It dies for no apparent reason and stays dead for hours. Sometimes I am lucky and it will be OK within half an hour. From all the feedback from Afrihost's Critical Care team, it points to a line fault.

Why do you need the same router? It could be an intermittent router issue? It is just the easiest way to fully rule out your home network

I just signed up with Afrihost for the 4mb Business DSL. Worst decision I ever made and I am now R700 poorer. My Openweb 4mb Gold works flawlessly yet Afrihost's so called "Unshaped, Unthrolled, full speed 24/7" account is just ballz.

If it's not sorted by tomorrow I am cancelling my afrihost account and demanding my double money back (It says so on their website, therefore it must be true).

Ah yes, classic Telkom issue. Does it die completely or is it a speed / latency issue only?

Dude

Go to clientzone, go to your business account, click protocol prioritization and turn off

I'd hazard a guess that your torrents are throttled. Turn off protocol prioritisation in clientzone.

We've tried to find the source, and it seems to be telkom every time. It's just that there is something iffy about his connection (look back at the tracerts). Also, telkom denies there is an issue - which is also strange? Another thing, he syncs at full speed the entire time?

I don't use torrents, well very rarely. I'm talking about http downloads and general browsing.

And out of nowhere:

See, back to normal after being f***ed for over 2 hours. This is the normal daily crap I have been sitting with for the last 10 months.
Sometimes the connection dies completely, other times it slows to a crawl. There is no specific time of day it happens, it is totally ramdom. Some days there will be no connection loss or slowdown. I have had the luck of having a solid connection for 4 straight days, the fifth day it was down almost the entire day.

Sorry to hear you aren't getting the best experience with our account :(
There shouldn't be any reason why it isn't slow - drop me a PM with your details and I'll check things out for you tonight.

Sent both you and AfriMan a pm earlier.
