WTF.........

I have been more than happy with the connection for a loooooooong time. No issues with speed at all for yonks, but since this morning it syncs at 4Mb but to call it a crap connection is putting it nicely. The only internet things that are working nicely are forums.

Youtube streaming sucks hairy gorilla gonads once more and the CLient Zone "Tweak my line" DOES NOT WORK to try and resync to anything higher than 4Mb. I click on 8Mb (the way it was before this morning and would be constantly above 6Mb) but it does nothing. Only getting 3Mb now and I have tried resyncing many times today and even left the router off for about 3 hours. No luck at all.

Meh.....

I hope the issues with your line haven't come back. Have you tested with other accounts to check?

Demand seems pretty high in the East at the moment - so we could be seeing more contention than usual. Remember, we also have additional capacity on order for the East - so we're waiting on Telkom's delivery :(

As I'm in the east, do you have an ETA?

You may have missed some of the goings on of the last few weeks.

We're currently seeing heavy demand in the Cape and we're awaiting additional capacity (actually the balance of last year's order) to be delivered to us. We expect that once capacity lands - we're hoping for early April if all goes well - that many of the symptoms we're seeing in the South will be resolved :(

Not the welcome back I was hoping for though :(

Hi Afriman

Thank you for the response. Will send you PM in next few minutes

As far as I know this should be in the same time frame as the general upgrade for the South as well. They probably won't arrive on the same day, but hopefully both before Greg's estimated date of the 10th.

Day 10 of my 10mb Business Uncapped and it still hasn't skipped a beat. Low latencies, full speed downloads 24/7 (p2p / Steam etc), flawless HD streaming (Twitch / Netflix etc) & general awesomeness all round. Currently downloading from Astraweb at a steady 1mB/sec. Am I part of a lucky minority?

Looks like the ipc to me - so theres not much you can do, its an AH problem

This. Ping is still appalling, I sent an email to support on Saturday, got a reply in pretty good time, my ports were recreated, but still no go. I was also asked to provide speed/ping tests and trace routes which I did. Got another email today which was just. shocking to say the least.

"Please be advised that our AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) sates : As a Capped client you are completely unshaped no matter what you are doing, and no matter what the time of day or night it is. This means that we will not slow down your connection speed (by either shaping or throttling) no matter what you download or connect to. Your speed will be as fast as your Telkom ADSL line allows for every kind of traffic (Actual speed is dependent on line speed, distance from the exchange, quality of the cabling in your area and current capacity of your Telkom exchange).

Since your line is not being managed by us, kindly contact Telkom and ask for your line ports to be recreated and your line set to sync at the maximum required speed.

I hope that the above has been informative, should require anymore clarity please feel free to contact us."

First of all, I have an uncapped account, so why was that even quoted at all? Secondly my account has been managed by Afrihost since December 2012. Thirdly my ports were already recreated and it clearly didn't help. Quite shocked that I received such a useless copy paste response that was completely unhelpful to me, feel completely written off before anyone has even tried to find out what the issue is.

Guys this is getting pretty ridiculous...I really think that we all need to get compensated in some way, a month without internet we are paying for is unacceptable!

Ya...super slow. Browsing OK but everything else is horrible!

Its a best effort service, so basically thats how they get away with stuff like this, everythime you mention a discount or something here the posts get ignored. Amazing how you can sell a product that is cleartly not working as advertised, and still get away with it. I dont believe this is doing Afrihost any good, but time will tell.

Huff, puff, struggle, stutter, burp, fart. Impossible to stream anything. Maxing at 1/8th of my line speed on a multi-threaded download. Paying a premium for this craaaaap.

And network status is still green. Everything working as it should. No problems!

If it was not working as advertised, it will be so for everybody. You talking about a half-truth there: Its perhaps *** for you, but working perfect me. So in fact it is then working as advertised, but not for everyone.

Perhaps if the NP didn't kick out BT back in the day and the ANC kept it so by finalizing the x-koms we would not be where we were to day. Nonetheless someone should take responsibility here and some sort of compensation should be given imho. If your telkom line does not work you can claim that back from accounts for that period of time which I have done before...

Have to agree... Speed very poor at the moment.

Not good for a 10Mbps line. Just hope the new capacity is kicking in from 1 April 2014.
