Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I know that this is frustrating, and it really down't matter what you use your connection for. You expect a certain level of performance, and when that isn't there, I think you have every reason to be peeved.

If there was more I could do from my side - I promise I would do it. Until Telkom gives us the capacity we ordered, we're all going to have to make the best we can together. Especially with regard to scheduling torrents and downloads for off-peak and overnight and just hanging in there until the IPC is switched on.

Like I said before degrade non business accounts more so that business's can function.

Double business accounts monthly payment and i might fall for the nonsense you are posting.

Why is it called a Business account?

If it was not intended for business use, called it unshaped uncapped.........

So once you actually use your account for legitimate business reasons, I will believe the nonsense you are posting :)

Its their choice what they charge for business accounts.......

I agree with your view point Jean, in that a business account should receive some priority, but to tell me that AH or any ISP should degrade another package just because you have a business account, that I won't accept.

At the moment the difference between Home and Business accounts are the shaping.
How do you want degrade Home further?

By degrading I mean, stop torrents / news servers on all accounts...... for now, put a notice up telling people about it. I also don't like the fact that it is branded as business but its in essence a uncapped unshaped account, so brand it as that.....

To that, as a Home uncapped user, I would agree with.
I too would prefer to have proper http download speeds during the day and maybe a window where people may download Nttp and P2P, say from 18:00 - 06:00 or even maybe better 00:00 - 06:00, as an interim measure while there is an IPC issue.

My point exactly :)

Well, I can definitely tell you that my 10MB Business Uncapped is being shaped on torrents all day till 21:00... after this, the speeds are full until 08:00. I have tested an WA 40GB account at the same time of day, and it is at full speed all the time.

So much for the claim that AH Business is guaranteed to be unshaped at all times - IT'S NOT!

My point exactly :)
In your original post I thought you meant more in the line of throttling or something similar.
As it is currently, I'm shaped 18.8% for http and 6.25% for P2P.
That means I get about 80kB/s or less on http and about 13kB/s for P2P downloads.

Take in account that I regularly download drivers, PS3/PS4 games and updates and Linux distros (the real ones) and you would see I would kraam papier popies if my service degrade even more.

A 2GB game update took 14h hours to update on my PS4 the other day.

I would be pissed as well. But p2p traffic could be removed for now, give everyone 0% p2p.

I just wish an ISP will put their clients before making massive profit, because currently their are too many people and too little bandwidth.

this is profit!

My big issue with all of this, are we 100% sure that once the capacity gets increased we are going to get the service we are currently paying for? I still find it seems far too easy to blame Telkom. What is also odd is previously browsing seemed ok, but now everything just seems to be slow, have so many new users joined Afrihost? Not everything adds up.

Everyone blames telkom, its a easy way out! When you sign up 20k customers and you only have 1Gbps available, who's fault is it? Telkom of course....

It seems like no-one at afrihost knows what is cooking :) We might get new IPC before end of April :)

Consultant (11:54:52) : Good Day Jeanre
Consultant (11:55:02) : how can i be of assistance

Jeanre (12:03:03) : so it can be the 15th?
Jeanre (12:03:05) : 20th?
Consultant (12:04:07) : thats why i gave a safe answer by saying mid-month

Jeanre (12:07:31) : Please rebrand the business uncapped account as a unshaped uncapped account
Jeanre (12:07:42) : What is your understanding of the word Business?
Jeanre (12:08:09) : If afrihost did not have clients, would you have a job? If I cannot service my clients do I have a job?

Jeanre (12:10:50) : Anyway I will be on the lookout for a new ISP
Consultant (12:11:29) : i cannot control what happens at the IPC
Jeanre (12:11:09) : of course your company can
Consultant (12:11:40) : you are not shaped because of usage
Consultant (12:11:53) : we just dont have enough capacity at the moment
Jeanre (12:11:31) : don't sign up more clients when you don't have enough bandwidth
Consultant (12:12:08) : which then the company has invested on fixing
Consultant (12:12:16) : this should be done by the 10th

Consultant (12:14:10) : you are welcome kind sir

Their support has never been that great, Afrihost manage my line, and they actually managed to get my line cut, I was without any telephone and adsl for a week. No compensation until I demanded a refund, and never any feedback. I had to continuality call to find out what was happening. eventually I dealt with Telkom directly and the matter got resolved.

If you cannot use the online support and you then have to email, these emails never get responded to.

Well - weeks later - I noticed a refund to my credit card, and in my spam folder saying they'd "refund" the double to my bank account... apparently that was just BS.

I wasn't expecting double back - but find it annoying that they'd string me along for ages saying they can't process a "double" back refund to my credit card, therefore I must send my bank details - which I do, and then no response for days, then I see I have message saying, they refunded my credit card, and will do the bank account separately.

Basically, using random excuses for their delays.
