Shaping is controlled and predictable - issues of contention are very different. There may be similarities in overall experience but they are very different.

Oh, over-contention is much, much worse than being shaped. Shaping is planned, intentional and managed.
Over-contention is just a poor and chaotic lack of service.

I think we can argue all day about this and that, but at the end of the day we have been let down, who is to blame is debateable. I pay Afrihost for a product, and they are expected to provide that product. How they get their product which they sell to me is not important. Its like in my business we develop software, our clients expect the program they have paid for, if I am having issues with Microsoft because their compiler is not working its my job to sort this out at my cost so my customers get what they have paid for. I don't think I am getting what I paid for.

Because it's too much of a hassle for them to implement a new realm, and give us temporary usernames and passwords. It has to be "fully integrated" into their network...
Been there, done that, got the cold shoulder and kindly fsck off from Afrihost...

Unfortunately Telkom informed us around midday that they would not be able to deliver the upgrade today. They saying that it will be done by the 18th of April now

Unfortunately Telkom informed us around midday that they would not be able to deliver the upgrade today. They saying that it will be done by the 18th of April now
I still find an upgrade happening on Good Friday a bit strange, and the network will probably be under more strain because more people will be home. I wonder if Telkom are aware its the Easter long weekend?
