Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Well, this is what I read,

And from what I read it would seem as if this 20% was THE upgrade, and it is live, but more has been ordered as it is needed.

So, what we are saying is, all the free giveaways and stuff HAS negated the new IPC upgrade. This is what we have all said for over a month, which was repeatedly denied by AH reps on here... we will now have to wait another 6 months for the new order to be completed. Once again, it is clear that AH has oversold it's network, and the clients will foot the bill and suffer for it... POOR NETWORK MANAGEMENT!

It has been mentioned by many in the industry that the way it works with Telkom is that once you order IPC, the order needs to be scheduled, rolled out, and then completed. You cannot amend, or add to it. If you need more after the order is placed, you have to make out a NEW order. This is why we are upset.... AH has been side-stepping and putting "spin" on the situation to suit them, not us, the clients. I foresee that from next week, we will be back to square one!

The long and the short AH... WE WERE RIGHT.... your additional IPC is NOT enough, and all the new clients you have signed up has DEFINITELY affected/impacted network performance. It's for you as a company to admit you made a mistake, take the knock, and give 50% discounts to your uncapped clients, who have been all-round inconvenienced by the debacle - LESS SPIN, MORE SERVICE.

I hope good things to come.
Is it a 2Mbps line?

Well that is good news.
:)

I.really.really.do.hope.so.

But, in the likelihood of this not lasting post the weekend... I am reserving a meh and a bleh.

/reserved meh
/reserved bleh

And I have my Throttle-be-gone(TM) amulet around my POTS filter... just in case, like.

My feeling for yesterday was a mixed bag.
Downloads all over the show.
Then switched over to capped account did not fair any better.
Then last night approx. 23:00 it started flying again.

There is currently problems. Can describe it as beast effort.

Hi All

Strange thing happened can't connect currently with my TP-Link modem model TD-W8980.
I sync bit no internet for some reason.
Switched back to my D-Link all ok.

Sounds like a router issue /:

There are known issues with tp link routers and afrihost
I've read before that if you try a few times it eventually connects
I have the same router as yours and couldn't connect after two attempts
Never tried again though

I've had a few clients and partners run tests for me in CT, so far seeing great results. I've seen the results you posted so far, definitely something not kosher - not sure what line speed you are syncing on (guessing 2Mbps).

Does anyone else have some results they can post here?

i'm still experiencing poor speeds on my 4Mbps Uncapped account. Pretty much the same as yesterday morning:
afrihost.png

I've been very patient, but I'm starting to consider cancelling my Afrihost account & taking my business elsewhere.
I signed up for my 4Mbps Uncapped in January & these were my downloading averages per day: Jan 19gb/day. Feb 18gb/day. March 12gb/day.
March you can see is where the problem started!
April so far, Clientzone says "Average Daily Usage: 9.79 GB"
Thats disappointing, & pathetic quite frankly, for the amount I'm being charged for this service!!

I contacted afrihost via their twitter account but there's been no resolution to my problem to date

Hi,

Please would you run the second tool in my signature :) it looks like you may have a case of Telkom exchange congestion, which means that all accounts you try would be slow :(

How does your line perform on a test Web Africa/Axxess account?

On 4Apr when I contacted Afrihost, they originally suspected my local exchange was at fault.... but on 6Apr when Afrihost finally responded - they fixed the issue from their end.
How likely is it my local exchange is perfectly fine in Jan+Feb, then Mar it takes a hit & Apr its crippled? Is that normal?

I'll try your suggested tool when i get home tonight @ 7pm. Thanks! :)

Unfortunately with these there is always a possibility :(

I just want to check. There is always a possibility that it isn't the line, in which case it would be the ISP.

Z :)

Oh, & just to clarify:
I posted in this Business thread by mistake...
thats why i re-posted my issue in the "Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)" thread

I'm on an Afrihost 4Mbps Uncapped account

Okay hahaha, you can just reply with the results there then :)

Z

Account has been running swimmingly since the upgrade.

Whoop whoop mostly maxing out my 10mb line
