Still, its my last day. Out of the frying pan into....?

When the clock strikes 08:00 your speed drops off a cliff, browsing, email everything is dead slow...
I guess everyone waits for exactly 08:00 to start using bandwidth.

That sounds like throttling.

Are there any other developers out there experiencing this? Only happens with uncompressed MySQL so most of the MySQL management tools like SQLYog still work but your applications probably won't unless you switch them to the compressed protocol.

Yes! Cannot connect to my remote databases at all. I wondered if the port was being blocked.... but as we all know there is... "no shaping whatsoever on these business accounts."

@Afriguy So now both MySQL and SQL are blocked on our business uncapped starting at 15:30. You do know some of us use this for actual work, don't you? This actually happened just after your critical care phoned, so great job that, now we have the problem on a previously unaffected line.

As mentioned via PM, no ports or services are blocked on our network. There must be an underlying issue here.
I'll see how far our team is in getting a solution for you.

I'd like to compare some stats here, could you PM me your DSL username please?

Yes - your network! 3 random people, having the same issue, at exactly the same time. There must be one massive conspiracy

This is something that needs to be investigated.
We wouldn't just block ports/ services just because. I'll have some feedback posted here once I have it.

I've just tested this on my end, using MySQL Workbench and I got a connection.
When you guys aren't able to connect - have you tried telnet'ing to the box?

Well, it's never happened before. I was busy looking on the Sql client application's website for a solution as to why the app would just hang while trying to connect. That's also why I was running the speed tests.

Shout if you see this happen again, I'll keep running some tests on my end.

MySQL workbench works. Application side access *still* blocked unless you set compress=True in the connection string. I think workbench and other managers use a different protocol, even though workbench is set to compression off.

Have you had this info passed onto our team? Not really sure why this wouldn't be working as I'm sure it'll be pushed through the same ports.
