I've recently been very disappointed with Afrihost's capabilities. They have let me down in so many ways. I was working with a client to prepare the launch of a new website and updating server files and content daily. Then they moved the shared hosting to a new hosting server without informing us when they are doing it, and then they didn't make a proper backup either before doing it, we lost almost a week's worth of coding, small changes and wordpress data. The cost was really high to fix and get up and running again. They just spin a story, no-one apologises, they keep saying that the performance of their servers are standard.

I have several hosting clients and my own sites with them, and none of the other servers have the performance issues that this one had. Now I'm starting to doubt their capabilities, their staff and every part of their operation if they can simply move your hosting from one server to another, without a proper backup first, and then go and delete the previous version. Having lost so much work really cost us time and I've pretty much had it with them as a company. What happened, they used to be so good?

"at the moment"

Nope, for the past few YEARS. Elitehost is the best hands down.

Afrihost claims their main business is hosting. But I sincerely doubt that. At least places with ****ty hosting like MWEB and Web Africa didn't pretend to have their core business be hosting and supplementing it with ADSL/data sales.

I feel Afrihost lost touch with their roots and this shows quite dramatically in what service they provide.

I've had 0 outage on elitehost (other than their network issues, which was solved by moving to Terraco) and I have it on good authority that stuff will be happening at elitehost that should give you a warm feeling in your pants
