Afrihost Capped Account

Hi All.

Is there any Afrihost user's having issues between 6pm and midnight. Doesn't always happen every night but mostly it does.

Internet just gets slower and slower. I have a 10MB line and a speedtest shows My download as 0.50MB.

I asked TelkomZA to check congestion but he says everything is fine.

Yes and I'm beginning to think maybe it's time a pull the plug on my afrihost account.

I try streaming a vid and fails continually so I re sync the modem and eventually get it to work s bit and then I see quality drop and cut off. Try the same site from cell and it works perfectly 1st time..

I think if this is the new service level Afrihost is delivering then it's time I say good bye
 
Less than half the normal speed it seems. I'm on the "priority" capped account.

This was one of the many reasons I moved all accounts away from AfriHell more than a year ago - sad to see the problems still persist but then you have to compliment them on consistency.

I could suggest to move to a proper ISP but at this stage any ISP with exception of OpenWeb where you actually get what you pay for would be a better alternative.

We should be seeing good performance on Capped accounts, especially the Unshaped capped accounts.

Can you post any test results I can take a look at? :(

are you now saying the unshaped capped accounts are better after you told everybody that the capped will only be shaped in network emergencies it sure does look like permanent shaping is taking place on the normal capped accounts

Not sure what you're asking here. I think it's probably perceived that Unshaped Capped accounts are "better" than Shaped Capped accounts because of the fact that they are, well, never shaped. :) As you pointed out, Shaped Capped will only be shaped as a last resort and as it stands, this hasn't happened yet.

you did not answer the statement made by afriman according to him the unshaped one gives better performance but if both are not shaped how can that be
we are talking about normal usage at normal times not when there is a network emergency

I think you're reading into this a little too much. :) Are you on a Shaped Capped account? Have you noticed a remarkable difference during normal operating hours?

Yes. Started around 4 January for me in PE.

WebAfrica account working 100%.

I'm on 40mbps DSL with AH - seems like cape capacity issues are back.

Nice way to start the new year. First shaped capped accounts, now pixelated netflix and showmax in the evenings.

Sorry to hear about your poor experience. :( We're definitely not seeing any capacity issues anywhere on our network. I'd love to see some test results if you can post them. :)
 
Afrihost capped account is gone to bonkers. I cannot stream 720p properly. And why is the unshape price R199 since I am paying R99 for my 100gb capped shaped account.

Maybe I must give Vox a try with their fat pipe accounts
 
I'll be honest, first week was fine, now around 10-12 pm every evening, I can't even stream 720p as well.
