Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

please. tell that to afri business uncapped users. it's got nothing to do with price.

Of course it does, people using "unshaped" accounts that cost nothing when you consider the actual costs and sustainability of the product expecting everything to be great, then bitching when its not.

Just don't go for the cheapest option at whatever ISP you choose and you should be fine...

Afribusiness is supposed to be their premier product. yet it experiences exactly the same issues all the other users have been having on afri. their network is fked. upgrading to a more expensive option will do exactly fkall. Thus your advice is BS.

You are going off on a tangent here. Yes we all know that model is unsustainable, that is beside the point.

I think I misunderstood your first point.

I was specifically reffering to

Crystal Web is just as bad. I was about to cancel with CW and move back to Afrihost, but judging by this thread our problems are not with the ISP's. ISP's are just the middleman.

Time to research which ISP's are on which network and then go with the most expensive, hence least congested, of those.

as ^ wanted to move /away/ from AH; I then meant to say that he should compare Apples to Apples and not go for the cheapest option at ISP B because ISP A is cheaper for an inferrior product and ISP B is more expensive for what seems to be an equivalent product ei WA Business vs AH Business

Even then comparing between different ISPs. Price is about the worst yardstick I would use. I would take research, testing and feedback over it any day. But feel free to flush those mandela faces down the toilet.

Morning guys

First off, I’d like to sincerely apologise for the poor experience seen this weekend. It does look to be normalising now, but that obviously doesn’t draw from the the fact that Saturday and Sunday haven’t been the best.

As you’re well aware, we have major improvements on board that are currently being tested for implementation which will, in the long term, prove to bring our network back up to the levels that we expect to see and our clients have learnt to be awesome.

The problems seen over the weekend seemed to have been compounded by demand and further glitches. We do have a team on this to determine the cause. Going forward, I’m fully confident that things will be improving.

Morning

With all due respect, "haven't been the best" is not how I would have described it.

Please, more proactive intervention and no more reactive appologising.

When will "things be improving" and just how will they improve?

Dial-up would have been an improvement this weekend on the MTN network. it was totally borked and unusable.

/still meh moodwise.

Fully understandable, I think everyone can describe the issues differently.
Ideally, we need to look forward and note that improvements are coming - and they're not small ones either. I totally understand if your experience isn't to what you want it to - but please also understand that it's not something that's being ignored, it's something that's being actively worked on.

Great... potato potaahto ping-pong.

I have nothing more to say then.

I will believe it when I see it and hope it lasts longer than 3 months before we are at this stage again.

and again.

and again.

I totally understand where you are coming from. We know things we pretty dismal this weekend, I think both AfriGuy and I experienced that first hand - so we're not trying to downplay that at all.

Hopefully Gian will be able to let us share more information for what is planned in terms of our upgrading project. I can say we're well into testing and should hopefully be able to bring our clients into the loop very soon :(

Some indication of what happened this weekend would go a long way to assuring us that you guys know what you are doing too. So far it looks like the network went down and no one knows why, so we are not likely to put much faith in your grand plan either.

Before you bring us into the the loop you actually need to keep us on-line.

At a push, and as a result of the glitches over month end, could Afrihost consider rolling unused data over please?

The network definitely did not go down. As I said in my post on another thread (or was it this thread), our graphs showed demand was well under maximum and latency was constant across all regions. So from a stats perspective, everything should have been perfect.

I certainly experienced something similar to what was reported here. Some services were mostly OK, but YouTube was a no-go for most of the weekend. I've reported my experience to the network team, still hoping they can clue me in so I can pass that info on.

Afrihost what exactly is the purpose of the secrecy around your upgrade plans, besides keeping your customers in the dark, thus further frustrating them?

A better approach would be to lay your cards on the table. Explain what your plans are, the progress you've made, and so forth. This would go a long way in helping the customers who would prefer sticking around (surprising, I know) to stick around for a little while longer.

I've even found a nice guide for you: http://www.superoffice.com/blog/keep-your-customers-in-the-loop-and-keep-them-happy/

Here's a choice quote: On the contrary, if you keep your customer well informed of all the trouble you’re going through to try and fix the problem, then you build loyalty, and create customer relationships that stick.

Dude, I don't know what network you were using, but NOTHING was working OK this weekend! NOTHING!

We'd definitely like to do that, but with a work that is in progress, we may commit the team to features or services that we can't deliver on, or we may end up delaying on deadlines we've publicly committed to. I can promise that Gian himself is involved and pushing for the earliest possible date to go public with everything we're experiencing, how we got here and what the next steps will be. I can say it is something groundbreaking (certainly for us) and we're very excited about the possibilities for the future. I've literally dropped all the hints I possibly can about what's coming, but I think it's probably best for Gian to spell it out and hopefully he will also make himself available to answer a few burning questions. If not, once the information is out there, we'll be able to tell you more here in the threads.

So there is nothing wrong at ESKOM because even though you don't have lights all of the surrounding suburbs do.......

If the Internet services that your Customer wants to use are down your network is down, or are you saying Android Users and Google service's don't count, they need to switch to Ios?
