Sorry about the long wait time, our team are swamped with these issues tonight :( Between international links and Gallo Manor it's pretty busy.
Anything I can help with?

I couldn't get through to the call centre last night 40min waiting time. As you know everything sucks so I just want to add my voice. Wont paste traceroutes as you already know how bad it is. Just get us back online. And pls update on developments.

And AH, while you are at it, please fix the other issues on your network that many people have been experiencing for quite some time now.

My line is terrible this evening, cant even watch something from youtube and it wont open saix to test my line speed

Can you please explain why, now that most international sites are not working, my local traces are constant and sub 50ms all the way, but when everything is working "fine" I average between 80ms - 100ms?

Also, why are we being routed through this, when tracing to afrihost.com?:

9 38 ms 33 ms 38 ms vox.cinx.net.za [196.223.22.21]

Very strange that this node is hosted at IS?!?

My link is very weird tonight, connectivity comes and goes although DSL light stays green. Websites timeout, click refresh and then they load. Few seconds later, gone again. Speedtest doesn't load etc.

Made for a very interesting voice call with the US. Talking for 60 seconds, 5 seconds of silence, talk for 60 seconds, 5 seconds of nothing...

There are some issues with international connectivity, Afrihost did put it on their status page. I just wish they would send sms's again like in the past.

Ah, I see it now. That explains it :) I was so happy to see the forum load I just typed...

AH if you want people to trust you you have to be honest about your network status display. This doesnt seem to be the case IMO.

Afrihost are not allowed to be honest since they sold their soul, and the users, to the devil.
It is in the MTN contract, Honesty, Service and Value for Money are now forbidden, it is the corporate culture of the parent company.

The std of service is up to Mtn levels. Sadly that is not great. My netflix restarts every couple of minutes.

Is international still down or is streaming now banned in Cape Town?
I have tried 4 different servers and only get the advertising but no actual content.
Time to switch to Telkom and see if that works.

Telkom streaming perfectly so obviously Afrihost have a different path to international.
So much for redundancy and the Internet basic tenant of "Built in redundancy with No single point of failure", have MNT never heard of peering?

I've been an Afrihost client for a hell of a long time but these days even when according to them everything is running great it just isn't. Constant niggles here then there, inconsistent streaming... I've cut the cord so I stream everyday and some days are better than others. It used to be consistantly stable and fast it just isn't anymore. I would notice that at peak times thing go a little pear shaped but because im on a capped account I expect to be mostly sheltered from it. I don't know but i'll give it a month or two and maybe try out other ISPs, Afrihost just doesn't seem te same to me anymore.
