Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

this is what I've been getting (any time of day) since I moved over to WebAfrica 2 days ago.

Note - my downsync is only 30mbps and not true 40 because of my distance to exchange...so as you can see great pings and maxing out the line

I've had a look at your previous posts with AfriGenie and yourself, I can fully understand the frustrations you're having - but let's please try and keep this thread on track for feedback for Afrihost specific accounts.

I'm still a paying customer till the end of the month...so I'm merely providing reference results...just in case someone comes and again and blames a Telkom line or sumfink.

Really?
Bloody hell.....

Understandable, just trying to keep things on track so we don't miss any feedback :)
Have a good one!

Not shaping at all.
As I mentioned, testing other news servers yields line speed results. Are you able to test that to confirm?

if you give me a news server to test with, I can. But if other protocols on the line work, and there's no issue with the server, then it's shaping.

Latency got increased again in evening.

At least no packet loss, going to try and play some H1Z1 see how it goes.

Just switch ISPs Cape ppl. Not that hard. If literally the the 1000+ pages between this thread and the previous threads haven't convinced you that you're wasting your time flogging a dead horse, nothing will.

The man has a point. Not 10min ago all went to ****.

No YouTube... No gaming... High ping... Blah blah.

Useless.

I bet if I could load their site I'd see a beautifully green orb because everything is A OK hey?

Just had a look at the Status page and found this:

UPDATE 10:25am 13 May 2015 Latency appears to be stable and back to normal. Our engineers will continue to monitor the network to ensure best performance. We’d like to once again apologise to any affected clients for their poor experience.

So there you have it, what we have been experiencing since the 13th of May (the last entry for South) is considered normal and they see no need to do anything further about it.

Do you perhaps have the URL of the Webinars that you try to watch? Definitely want to check why a streaming is causing latency on your connection.

The site is projectmanagement.com, however you will need a login to stream anything from there.

I do not think though that it is specific to the site. I am seeing the inconsistent ping times even when I am not watching the webinars. Right now I am seeing ping times of 200ms and even a few of 360 ms on the 3rd hop.

Quick question:

I see my line has been bumped up from 6 to 7Mbps (thanks to Telkom probably). I want to get it down to 6 again for stability. I logged into the client zone but I see the functionality for me to set my own line speed has been removed. How do I go about changing this now?

:(
Not sure if you've run any tests with our team? From what I can remember the packet loss doesn't seem to be coming in from our end.

OK I am one of if not THE oldest person posting about this problem I have sent 100 of tracerts in this thread and through your client zone please look at this :

Just logged here to point out the same problem, it used to only be in the evenings now its happening in the day, huge packet loss cape town area. From gaming clients to TS, Mumble, vent w/e. All of it just has packet loss causing delay. I did a tracert to LoL EUW servers and actualy had 50% packet loss.

Look at that date this is how old this problem is I havent had ANY help or improvements all that has happend is the south got even worse: So 3 months ago the issue was :

6-12 High packet loss on games and TS and high latency

And the issue THIS evening? High latency and terrible packet loss ~40 on teamspeak its the same issue I have posted and I am still posting and nothing has changed not a single thing, no its not my line, no im not uncapped and yes WA and CW and Telkom all work fine when I switch to them.

I have posts as old as that I have no problem linking them all to show this issue in the south has been here since march.
