Hi Thorsten

Pranav here from Afrihost Critical Care again.

Please note we are still awaiting feedback from our top management on the network status.
As stated previously I will provide feedback as soon as we have some positive information to share.

Thanking you kindly :)

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Pranav

Sorry that we didn't get back to you :( I'll request some further feedback, but from what I can see - the update would come straight from our noticeboard, which is as follows:

Our network team and management are aware that some of our clients have been experiencing poor internet performance over our ADSL services. Due to high demand for bandwidth on our network, affected clients may be experiencing slow speeds and high latency, particularly during periods when demand is very high. We sincerely apologise for the poor experience, and we’d like to assure our clients that their feedback and concerns are very important to us, and every possible resource at our disposal is being employed to improve overall network performance.
We are currently in the process of designing and deploying comprehensive network upgrades nationally.
Unfortunately we’re unable give a timeframe for these upgrades to be completed, but we commit to providing our clients with as much information as possible as it becomes available.
Once again we would like to sincerely apologise to affected clients for the poor experience they have had, and assure them that we will continue to dedicate ourselves to providing the best possible internet experience.

A bleak outlook for a Fan who only wants to recall the victory's but a valid outlook for a potential fan looking for a new team to invest time and resource into.

True, and now probably isn't the time we'll be making any new fans, and possibly losing some existing ones.
Saying that though, I don't think seeing our DSL experience over the years as poor is a fair reflection though. Once resolved, we can start building up the levels of awesome.

Mine is a lot better than you guys are showing but my line is synced at 10Meg down 1Meg up

Ping is not good for a Cape Town local connection though.

Also, my local ping is nearly my international ping.

The "improvements" that you have lined up are taking place when? It's not even 2pm and the ping is atrocious, this is definitely not a peak time. Are we going to be looking at 1000ms ping this evening?

guys, you should really just leave Afrihost...it's NOT worth it. I switched over to Webafrica this time last week. I haven't had a SINGLE issue so far. My pings are excellent...when I download I max out my line...twitch etc streams like a dream

note - I'm not saying switch to Webafrica specifically...but I DO mean switch to IS backbone. So far I'm really glad I made the move!!

The latency here matches what's reflecting in monitoring :(
I think it'll fluctuate as the day goes on, but doubt it will get much higher. We're working on managing the demand in the South as best we can.

Hi Afriguys,
I don't think this is normal.

The line is a 10 meg line and syncs at 7 meg.

Looks like the high latency is causing the poor throughput here :( There shouldn't be any issues in the North, but not sure if something is creeping in from the previously closed issue.
Our team are checking it out.

Hope this does get sorted.

You guys say "we are implementing network upgrades". A couple of days later and the network is already useless at 1pm.
That is not called an upgrade but a downgrade.

3 Hours later and not a single update from Afrihost regarding the terrible state of the network today.
