I have no words for how astoundingly terrible things are running today.

Hey Guys.
Gian Visser, CEO of Afrihost here.
First, I sincerely apologise for the poor internet experience that I know some of you have been having on our DSL network.
I know that many of you have been unhappy with us, and I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m hoping that by opening this thread, we can start discussing what is happening and what we're doing to fix it.
I hope that I can start rebuilding any trust that has been broken between us - I know you expect the best from us and I know that lately you haven't always received the pure internet joy we strive to give you.
who the fck cares what service is working or not the problem is Afrihost and **** MTN nothing else every time it is the same **** story we are busy testing it and we are sorry for the inconvenience or our team is working on it using another account by webafrica who i will be joining then there is nothing wrong everything works
Every ISP has it's challenges, I can't speak for others but we certainly see many people coming over to us having had a poor experience elsewhere.
we try to be open about what we're experiencing and also inform our clients what we're doing about it
i bet once they see this thread or experience the **** we have then they will leave very quickly.
almost all of the time AH don't want to take the blame and doing something like what? this has been a ongoing issue for months not just a week or two so we are still paying for a service we don't even get and while AH is just full of excuses
I'm really not sure why you feel that way. We've been pretty forthcoming with information as we receive it and we've put pressure on our side for solutions or for acknowledgement like updating our website etc. We believe in giving information as openly as we can. If you ask a question, we give you a straight answer. It's not an excuse, it the best insight we can give regarding what's happening behind the scenes.
Hi Afriman
Below you can see my response to Gian, now seeing that some of us need internet in our lives. I think it would be fair of you guys to help me speed up my cancellation. I want out as of the 01/07/2015. I don't want to waste another cent on you guys and I'm NOT paying for July, for a service I'm not getting. Please PM directly on the procedure here.
"Hi
I have been with you guys for 1 year now, I started with the uncapped 4 meg package. As a gamer my experience was horrible and after many support tickets I was advised to move to capped ADSL, as Afrihost uncapped was not "designed" for gamers (advice I got from support staff).
I did the move to capped data with you guys. Since then I've had periods of good line service followed by shocking network failure ( more often than not (Always at peak times). Your reps deny any shaping policy and give me the usual, "its your exchange, not us bull***" this is clearly untrue as any other ISP account works just fine in peak times on the same line.
I feel i was lied to, forced to buy a better package with you guys, lied to again and now I've had enough you can take your network and keep it, I unfortunately will go where there is service delivery. With the dishonestly I've experienced I'll never be back.
Kind Regards
Brendon Stone"
Got some feedback regarding the issue. Looks like there is a peering issue affecting Google services and MTN are busy working on this. We don't have a full ETA but it sounds like we may have to wait until tonight for this to be restored.
I don't know if using Google DNS might make things worse, but all things Google are likely to be a little poked right now. Everything else should be fine.
Persoonlik dink ek Gian het n paar warm klappe nodig.
Anyway concerning Afrihost, thanks for the service & prices you delivered which was fine for the majority of the time, but recently (3months+) you've completely dropped the ball, with latency among other performance indicators, being absolutely woeful.
You leave me no option other than cancellation.
Good luck with your "network upgrades".
I feel the same way. You've given and are daily giving run-around's, not answers.
I've been monitoring this thread for months now (have to because your noticeboard only reflect's sunshine and roses in order to impress the new guys) and I've not seen you give proper explanation anywhere.
This happened a few times before, what is the cause of this and why hasn't a fix been implemented to avoid it happening again?? This is the kind of information that your clients want! This also confirms that the issue is with MTN!!
