Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

You know, I can handle that you've run out of IPC, and that its due to shareholder pressure. What-ever! You know what gets me going, when people tell lies, especially in public..... Its the same thing as this useless government that tells lies all the day long. It drives my blood pressure up. Changing the network status page is like the ANC telling us loadshedding is on due to generating capacity, when it has just transpired it was all a sham, a nice little scheme to blackmail the population into a tarriff increase. Telling us "soon", "it is being worked on though" is like Zooomer's govt telling us "we will turn off analogue TV when we're ready" So it basically means, your word, the word of your CEO, is worth doggie doo. And henceforth, myself, indeed none of us here, can actually then believe a word you say. Do you think that's cool? I don't. Because if you lie for a living, you may as well move on to politics.
Please refrain from playing the man.

Keep your eye on the ball.

And I can understand your point, I really can.
Let's assume I sign up after checking the noticeboard on the site.

Cool, no issues. I'll take some DSL.
It's not performing as I expected, I ask Support, Social Media or ask here and see the other issues.
From there, I either wait it out or request my money back.

So I really don't think we're trying to con anyone into buying DSL and our network is running smoothly.
Again though, I need to stress that I've requested that the notice be returned to it's previous state.
If that happened to me, I would be livid.

Even to think that way shows your company has few scruples about grabbing money.

Customer service is about trust, and I don't think you're winning any.

I would probably be too.
We have updated the noticeboard though, so I think we can put this to rest now.

"Medium Impact"

I had to buy even more cap from WA right now because I cant use afrihost, this isnt a medium impact, it is 100% not usable for me and I use the internet to make a living.

Cape Town Packet Loss Latency etc

O and for people interested every single post I have on myBB has been about this issue all year so what does that tell you...58 posts and nothing has changed and I havent even recieved compensation because im paying them just for fun and nothing else since web africa is getting me to buy loads of top ups because my primary account is garbage.

We'll update the noticeboard with necessary feedback once it's available.

Well I switched back to try the "Improvements" and this is my speed:

It would be annoying enough if it were a 4Meg line and warrant a "Medium Impact" notice.
But I am Paying for a 10Meg line, that is slightly over 20% of my lanes capability, Medium impact is 50% not 25%.
I would offer more tests but Speedtest is still trying to load since I performed that one.

And speed test is being generous, In reality I am streaming at a maximum of 20Kbs that is not even a broadband speed it is 56K modem territory.

We're still working on improvements. Ideally though, we'll see some major improvements once we start switching clients over to the new infrastructure.

10Mbps capped.

Download Speed: 1623 kbps (202.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 820 kbps (102.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 286 ms
Jitter: 26 ms

When's this new network coming? Also, can we expect to be credited at all this month?

Those are horrible results :( The East isn't looking great, I'm sure we'll see clients moved over to the new infrastructure soon.
I can't confirm compensation at this stage, however as we mentioned in the thread before, we've given back to our clients wherever possible - I see this being no different.

Speeds are looking a little better now. Latency about the same.

Latency should be good in the evening, but I'm looking at a general overview now and I see that there was a small but significant rise in latency between 8:30 and 9:30 last night in the East :(

Afriman, a little piggy told me that the POC's will be live come next week Wednesday, latest Friday

Do you perhaps know how many customers will be moved and whether it will have any significant impact on your current network?

Jeez bud I expected it to be up and running this week already. Girlfriend is upset because all digital entertainment is delivered via our internet connection and currently that is just not working at all. Home DSL from Afrihost should be remarked as Afrihost E-mail Connectivity, because at the moment that is pretty much all I can do

Gian is saying early next week, so that makes sense. I don't know if that is a set date though. Will all depend on a few technical factors and also the testing going on at the moment. We're not bringing people over to an untested network, we believe it should be pretty much production ready.

Definitely looks we haven't managed to solve the packet loss issue. The team are still trying to sort this out :(

No you haven't. That has been apparent for weeks now. The packet loss caused problems for me last night, there was an especially bad burst of it around 19h30
