Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Seems Google and Twitter currently unreachable. Just me? Other sites work.

Google is really slow... we took the tablets off the WiFi to make it work...
Some sites still broken... have to use another ISP to manage my job application overseas  because Afrihost has done something and the page breaks...

This really sucks.

This makes me question what checks and controls AH have in place to ensure this cannot ever happen? Must customers constantly be checking up their line speed in case the ISP "inexplicably" fiddles with their configuration?

Somewhere in this mess the service provider needs to remember they are charging people hard earned money for this service. You should consider insisting on full compensation and a detailed report.

Yup, sucks big time. They replied again; it's been escalated, etc. That was over 24 hours ago, nothing yet.

I agree that there needs to be something implemented to safe guard against this type of thing.
I definitely want to know what happened and why it was allowed and will certainly push for reimbursement of the affected duration.

Netflix been pathetic all weekend, seems to be the default state at Afrihost. Are you guys ever going to sort this out? End of tether has been reached.

I've been able to use about 2% of my 200gb capped account this month so far - it's basically a scam - paying for something that doesn't work.

Cancelled.

On Friday night, I changed my router from Afrihost to the Vox account.

Are you still seeing slow speeds to Google-based services? Which sites aren't loading at the moment?

Were you seeing issues with any other streaming-related services? Which DNS service are you using with NetFlix at the moment?

Again... Had to switch accounts due to huge packet loss... despite ping claiming 12. Other account works 100%.

At least you have fixed the ping I guess.....

sigh.

With which services were you seeing packet loss?

Yes, takes forever to load GMail on Apple devices, and just as slow on desktop.
Still can't get into the job portal at Fisher and Paykel (It works fine on another service provider)

Our local arma server we run, again. 2 users (myself and another) on AH were experienceing terrible desync... simple ping test to the servers IP showed 50% packet loss. Ping was 12 though.

Switched to a Vox account and all was fine. Ping was a little higher (like 16 IRC), but no packet loss or desync.

The dedicated server is hosted at Hetzner if that matters.

I didnt test other services at the time.... was more interested in gaming.

Are you using our default DNS Servers 196.7.7.7 / 196.7.8.9?

If so, could you maybe switch to 196.7.7.7 / 8.8.8.8 and see if that changes the load times at all.

I was using unblock-us. I swapped to a friend's Unotelly settings, problem persisted. I then removed all of that and reverted to your normal DNS and youtube streaming was still terrible. I did run speedtest a few times through the course of the evening and download speeds hovered between 7.5 and 8.5, which on my 10 mbps line is pretty much normal for me. I don't know if it's related, but I ran a WoW update which I believe uses P2P, and that seemed normal, but I can't really comment on that since I seldom, if ever, download torrents.
