Do guys make changes after hours and not test, or why does this happen?

I did reboot when I experienced the issue last night. Made no difference. It was not just throttled, but there was some packet issues also. Will test again tonight.

We are still investigating, it doesn't seem to be due to anything we did. Remember that the network is constantly being managed and tweaked for optimal performance (that is the broader MTN network). We didn't make any changes in policy, but somehow policy assignment wasn't being registered correctly.

If you're still battling tonight, drop me a PM so I can check your policy.

I assume it is coincidence but since the authentication issue yesterday my line drops sync every few minutes. Any chance this is AH/Mtn related?

I have logged a fault with Telkom but of course it can take a week or more for them to come out.

I doubt that it's related. The issue of yesterday was not authentication related, it was to do with policy assignment for services. That was resolved and most users did not need to disconnect.

We should check your line or account. If the disconnection is from our side, we should be able to pick it up quickly :(

Throughput is the issue... latency seems fine.

I have an open ticket in my Client Zone from a week or so ago, and I get a response today wanting SAIX speedtests... again... and the AH helpdesk person seemed happy that according to her stats my line is syncing at 6.1Mbs now. It was 4Mbs this morning, 7Mbs at lunchtime and probably will change again before tomorrow morning.

We definitely do need to look into this and see why your throughput is poor. If I recall correctly you're on a 7Mbps synch so we should be seeing at least better local performance.

Will you drop me a PM so we can troubleshoot?

Nothing should have changed from our side and I can see that the network is not really all that busy. Have you run any further diagnostics like the Network Test App?

Thanks for the reply. Ill have to run it later today. Just weird that it's been happening the past 2 mornings and that's about the time I want to download :(

The results will tell us more. As far as I can tell, performance should generally be good in the morning.

I'm sorry, Gian, but what part of not flagging the setting for you to contact me with promotional items did you not understand? If you're going to offer the functionality, least thing you can do is adhere to it.
.

And still the email spam from Gian persists, and that without an unsubscribe option.

If this carries on I'm reporting him for the unsubscribe violation and cancelling my account with Afrihost. I'm a customer, not a spunge for whatever he wishes me to absorb.

What spam are you receiving from Gian? As far as I know he hasn't done a mailer for ages. We do always include an unsubscribe button and action any never-mail requests

I think he's referring to those plain text mailers. They have no unsubscribe links.

The last one I received was on June 20th.

Hi XXXXXX

A quick heads-up:

If you were ever thinking of getting our mobile data now's the time to take the leap.

Here's why:

From the 1st of August we can't offer Double mobile data accounts anymore.

However, if you sign up before the 31st of July then you will lock in Double the mobile GBs till the end of the year.

You can get this here:

https://www.afrihost.com/site/product/mobile_data

(Essentially you'll get your mobile GBs for half price if you sign up in the next week)

....................

Thank you for your business and for taking the time to read this.

And thank you for referring your family and friends to us.

I sincerely appreciate it

Have a wonderful weekend!

Gian
CEO, Afrihost

P.S. Here's where you can go and get Double your Mobile Data:

https://www.afrihost.com/site/product/mobile_data

Remember the offer ends the 31st of July

Thanks!

Note the lack of unsubscribe.

The point is, we unflagged all contact options and expect that to the end of it. If there's a bug, okay, but then acknowledge it and fix it.
.

PS: I'm coming across grumpier than I really am about this, but it is a sore-ish point. Paying for a service from someone does not entitle them to anything beyond the payment.

I'm having trouble upgrading my bundle with AH.

I want to move from 4Mbps to (up to) 10Mbps. I was told that my area only supports 4Mbps (which is what I'm on at the moment). I also had this problem a couple of months ago where the support people could not upgrade me. AfriMan then manually upgraded me to 6Mbps.

I get that you shouldn't be able to select something that isn't available in the area... but it is.

My http traffic is randomly bombing out, requiring a router restart of at least 5 minutes to solve it.

Been happening the whole day so far.

Sup chaps? :p

Gian's mail may be using a different list. Best would be to drop me a PM and I'll add you to our never-mail list so you don't receive any further emails from us :(

Apologies for that.

The problem is that sometimes the systems are not updated with the latest upgrades and it takes sometime before the submission portal allows the upgrade.

We can usually submit it manually over the phone with Telkom wholesale if it is eligible.

If you're on 6Mbps now, you should already be on the 10Mbps product though
